Copper Queens to leave for South Korea tomorrow

The Zambia Women’s National Team will tomorrow leave for South Korea ahead of Friday’s International friendly match. 

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga confirmed the development in his weekly update posted on the FA’s official Facebook Page and monitored by the ZamFoot Crew.

The Copper Queens and South Korea will square off in two international friendly matches as part of their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup

 Coach Bruce Mwape and his technical bench have been fine tuning their team in the last two weeks ahead of the trip to Asia. 

“The Copper Queens will be leaving for South Korea for two international friendly matches tomorrow. The FIFA world cup bound Copper Queens have a clearly defined preparatory program that has seen them utilize every FIFA window to play high profile international games. We believe that by the time they get to the tournament in July, they will be in a great position to compete with the best teams in the world,” Kamanga wrote. 

“The final stages of their preparations will comprise an international camp in Europe where they will play more friendly matches. Our friendly matches will be aligned to the style of play of the opposition that we will face in Group C. Our world cup opponents are Spain, Japan, and Costa Rica. We have no doubt that the Copper Queens will be one of the surprise packages of the 2023 Australia/New Zealand FIFA Women’s World Cup.”

Zambia will face South Korea on Friday and on Tuesday.

Korea Republic is ranked 17th in the World while Zambia is perched in the 77th position on the global charts.

South Korea is in Group H alongside Morocco, Colombia, and Germany. A match against Zambia will be an opportunity to face African opposition as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup. 

Zambia are in Group C alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica.The World Cup will kick off on July 20 in Australia/New Zealand.
