The Women’s National Team will face their Tanzanian counterparts on Sunday at the National Heroes Stadium in a send-off match ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
FAZ Supremo Andrew Kamanga confirmed the development in his weekly update posted on the Association’s official Facebook and monitored by the ZamFoot Crew.
The Copper Queens have not played a match at home since their 1-1 draw International friendly match against Botswana’s Mares at Nkoloma Stadium on 2nd May, 2022.
“Finally, The Copper Queens FIFA World Cup preparations program enters the final phase with the team regrouping in Lusaka. We have organised a send-off match at National Heroes Stadium on June 11 before they trek to Germany for an international camp,” He Wrote.
“The Copper Queens will play Tanzania at home before flying out. On June 22 they will face Ireland in Dublin before playing Switzerland on June 30 in Zurich. They will conclude their European camp with a game against Germany in Furth on July 7. All the teams they will play in Europe will be world cup participants.”
Zambia is in Group C alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica.
On July 22, the 2022 WAFCON bronze medalists will step onto the global stage for the first time, facing off against the formidable team from Japan.
Four days later, they will take on Spain, followed by a clash with Costa Rica on July 31.
