Copper Queens defender Margaret Belemu donated a set of jerseys and a match ball to her parent team Lusaka Sports Foundation Academy (LSFA) as a way of appreciating her roots which played a very vital role in her football career.
Lusaka Foundation coach Chilaza Tembo received the donation on behalf of the boy’s team which is campaigning in the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Division Three League under Lusaka Province.
Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew, her former coach at Lusaka Foundation Naomi Phiri who is now at the helm of Kabwe-based Queens Academy spoke highly of the Copper Queens’ flamboyant right full-back as a result of what she has been doing to the team which is based in Lusaka’s Chinama Hills College Area.
“Belemu is one kind of a player who always remembers where she comes from, and as part of the Lusaka Foundation is very pleased and happy for the donation of jerseys to the team and that will go a very long way and it is also a motivation to others to follow the same path,” Phiri told the ZamFoot Crew.
Coach Phiri who is also Assistant coach for the Young Copper Queens further stated that it was not the first time Belemu has donated to the Lusaka Foundation as she always remembers her former team most times with different forms of help and support.
“Even though there’s no girls team currently active at the Foundation with most of the players playing for different teams across the country, Belemu normally visits the boy’s team, especially after major tournaments, and at times trains with them and offers some help and support to the team be it financially or in another form, as a coach who has seen her rise in her football career am very happy for her and all I can say is wishing her more of God’s blessings so that she achieves her goals,” Phiri said.

Belemu started playing football in 2009 for the Jesus Army School team which was managed by her Uncle Kenny Belemu the team is currently known as YASA Queens before she moved to Lusaka Foundation two years later and since then she has never looked back in her career.
Belemu who is now on the books of Taiping Chinese Women’s Super League outfit Shanghai Shengli has played for National Assembly and Red Arrows.
The overlapping right-back is one of the most dependable players for the Zambia Women’s National Team, The Copper Queens.
