Copper Queens off to South Africa for Banyana Banyana test

The Zambia Women’s National Team is currently at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport awaiting departure for Johannesburg, where they will play an International friendly match with South Africa tomorrow on Saturday 10th April 2021.

The team will depart for South Africa at 08:00 via  proflight.

The Copper Queens will then welcome The Harambee Starlets of Kenya on 24th April 2021 in Lusaka for another friendly match as the Coach Bruce Mwape drilled lasses continue intensifying preparations ahead of the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics to be hosted by Japan from July 23 – August 8, 2021.

Coach Bruce Mwape has assembled a blend of experienced players and new players with the likes of Esther ‘Gelo’ Banda, Ochumba Oseke Lubanji, and Xiomera Mapepa all making the cut.

Skipper Barbra Banda leads the team with the likes of Grace Chanda, Mary Wilombe, Anita Mulenga, Martha Tembo, Lushomo Mweemba, and Musole Ng’ambo all making the cut.

Right-back Margaret Belemu has also made a return to the team after missing out on the trip to Chile, where Zambia beat the South American country, 2-1.

The match between The Copper Queens and Banyana Banyana will be played in Millpark, Johannesburg at the Bidvest Wits Stadium with a kick-off set for 15:00hrs.
