Rachel Nachula summoned for Banyana Banyana showdown

Spain-based forward Rachel Nachula has received a late call-up for the Copper Queens international friendly match against South Africa set for tomorrow in Johannesburg.

This is according to the Zaragoza CFF website monitored by the ZamFoot Crew. Nachula was a huge part of the Olympic qualification and also scored one of the goals in the 2-1 win over Chile last year.

Zaragoza has hence confirmed that she will be out of Sunday’s Iberdrola Challenge against Real Sporting de Gijón.

Teammate Hellen Mubanga, who is another regular call-up, could not be summoned this time around as she was injured, the club has revealed.

With the inclusion of Nachula coach Bruce Mwape now has several options upfront with Barbra Banda, current Women’s national league top goalscorer Theresa Chewe and Olympic qualification Africa top goalscorer Grace Chanda.

South Africa and Zambia lock horns on Saturday, 10 April 2021 in an international friendly match, The match will be played at the Bidvest Wits Stadium in Milpark with Kickoff set at 15h00. Zambia will also face Kenya’s Harambee Starlets at the month-end.

Coach Bruce will use the friendly matches as part of preparations for the 2020 Olympic games. The games are set for Japan and will begin on 23rd July 2021 and end on 8 August.
