The Zambia Women’s National team will face Asian side, Korea Republic in two international friendly matches during the April FIFA Window, FAZ has confirmed.
The two matches are part of the Copper Queens preparations for the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“As part of continuous preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has secured two international friendly matches for the Copper Queens for the April FIFA Window against the Republic of Korea.
The venue for the two friendly matches will be advised in due course with the dates being April 7&11.”
Korea Republic is ranked 15th in the World while Zambia is perched in the 81st position on the global charts.
South Korea is in Group H alongside Morocco, Colombia, and Germany. A match against Zambia will be an opportunity to face African opposition as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup.
Zambia played North Macedonia, Slovenia and Uzbekistan during the just ended FIFA window in Turkey.
In November last year the Copper Queens also faced Colombia in two international friendly matches.
Zambia also has a date with the Republic of Ireland in June before facing co-hosts Australia.
Zambia are in Group C alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica.The World Cup will kicks off on July 20 in Australia/New Zealand.
Playing 2 preparatory matches against South Korea sounds too good to be true.
If it comes through then it means we would have faced at least a team or 2 from each continent in our group.
The Japanese women’s team is very strong and they have a Seppuku and Kamikaze attitude.
