Copper Princesses confident of turning around their World Cup fortunes in Cameroon

All is set for tomorrow as the Zambia U17 Women’s National Team look to overturn their 2-0 loss in the first of the third round of the India 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

Defender Roydah Ng’andu is confident the Copper Princesses will turn it around when the two teams square off at the the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

The Copper Princesses lost 2-0 at home in the third round, first leg match to Cameroon.

N’gandu believes the team is in good shape to produce a convincing result away from home.

“The game is not yet over; our focus has now shifted to Saturday’s game. We won’t give up; we still have a game ahead of us. We can try, push and we can even score more goals,” N’gandu said.

“If they managed to score two goals in 45 minutes, we are capable of outscoring them. We won’t let the fans down, we know that you trust us and all we need is your support, we still love you and we will fight for you and our country.”

Meanwhile striker Lucy Kajiya says she has worked on the mistakes from the first leg.

“The coach told us to focus on the second leg after we lost in the first leg, So we have been doing our best in training so that we can face Cameroon tomorrow,” she said.

“We won’t disappoint the fans, we will work hard to win and score more goals. I had a number of chances in the first leg but I have worked on my mistakes now and know what I did wrong,” she added.

The Team has reported a clean bill of health ahead of this Saturday’s encounter, Team Doctor Lalisa Nambeye-Njereshi confirmed.

The match on Saturday will kick off at 16:30 CAT with the overall winner over two legs qualifying to the fourth round for a date against either Burundi or Tanzania.
