The Zambia U-17 Women’s National Team, the Copper Princesses, have arrived in Morocco ahead of a 10-day international camp as they step up preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The team landed at Rabat–Salé Airport at 08h50 local time before travelling on to Casablanca, where they will continue preparations for their opening international friendly against China on 9 October.
The friendly will provide coach Carol Kanyemba and her technical bench with an important opportunity to assess the team ahead of the World Cup, which kicks off in Morocco on 17 October.
Zambia have been drawn in Group D alongside France, Japan and Venezuela, with the top two teams advancing from the group.
Kanyemba has selected a 21-player squad for the tournament, including England-based defender Jessica Johnson, who is on the books of Aston Villa.
FAZ Deputy General Secretary Iva Lengwe and Western Province Women’s Representative Theresa Lyainga are part of the delegation accompanying the team.
The Football Association of Zambia has arranged at least two international friendly matches during the 10-day camp as the Copper Princesses fine-tune their preparations for the tournament, which runs from 17 October to 7 November.
Kanyemba and her technical staff have also overseen Zambia’s qualification for three successive FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups, in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
