The stage is set for this afternoon’s African Cup of Nations qualifier between Congo and Zambia in Brazaville with kickoff at 16:30.
Since the Chipolopolo Boys arrived in Brazaville, the among fans have shown respect to the 2012 African Champions.
Looking at the local newspapers as well talking to the Red Devils fans on the streets of Brazaville, three Chipolopolo players are being singled out.
“Kalengo is a good striker and deadly,” one fan said in French.
“I am surprised striker who scored three goals is still playing,” another one said in reference to Collins Mbesuma.
Kalengo, plays his football in Congo and doesn’t need any introduction to the local fans.
He is the leading top scorer in the Congolese league with 10 goals since he joined AC Leopards in January and confidently he scored against them on Wednesday.
They are aware of his prowess.
As for Mbesuma, the memories are still there. A decade ago, as a rookie striker, the Luanshya born broke the Red Devils faithful with a stunning hatrick in Pointe Noire and no player has had such an impact on the Congolese soil.
Kennedy Mweene made his competitive debut in that game and conceded two late goals.
“The captain is also dangerous. He is a good striker,” a fan said in reference to Chris Katongo. He should be forgiven as Katongo is no longer the captain but most fans haven’t forgotten his exploits in 2012.
Many Red Devils fans actually consider him in the same breath as the Asamoah Gyan of Ghana…African legend.
From the team which won 3-2 a decade ago, its only Mbesuma, Katongo, Mweene and Isaac Chansa surving from that team.

Should we lose, kamanga should resign on moral grounds
hehehe
this is not a grounds for resigning.
Ba chicken introduce king david in the second half,he’s very leathal and wicked with his left foot, did u see his shoot that ka keeper parred away.bola iyanba na 1630.all soka fans shud b seated in the bars by 1620
Apparently, there are reports indicating that Sunzu is suspended for this match as he has accumulated two yellow cards. Thats sad.
Yes he accumulated two yellow cards bt I prefer ba lwandamina to play nkausu 4-5 with Adrian and kabaso chongo ku right back
Ba kamta muleikala fye nga tamukwete ifyakulanda. Th team was selected wen kalu was president. In th nxt game, expect to see moses phiri, chisamba lungu nd fuckson kapumbu in th team.

Game on. When some locals single out players,it shows how much respect they have and is a motivation in away.Congo is stubborn but beatable at home come on guys do your best
@jojo you are right some people have nothing positive to contribute and hence keep on demoralising the team ,other fans and bring in anegative energy in the game.i thought its acompetition and congo also want to win.the best way is fair play.good motivatoon and not politics .
We will win this game i know zambia very well when their are paying a must win game they like quaifying in a mathematic way, we hv never qualified in a 100% record. Go! Zambia Go! we are behind you boys.
Zambia will qualify to the 2017 Afcon but we stil need an expatriet coach for us to qualify to the 2018 fifa world cup.
“Many Red Devils fans actually consider him in the same breath as the Asamoah Gyan”. Zamfoot really? ur players cant compare to Gyan please.
Wat renowned team has gyan wat ever u call him played for? is jst one selfish ok player. Mayb if he ws drogba, eto or yaya toure. Hehehehe!
the truth is that Zambia is a power house of football in africa but currently we dont hv a coach who can take us to the another level of football.
maybe the that kalengo guy is getting there but not even halfway yet. he will have to score in a world cup against some of the worlds toughest defenders first.
Kalengo can score against anybody. All he needs is a chance to score. a lot depends on the team as a whole to score. So, put him in a good team which can create chances, and he will definitely score.
we wil win today mark my words! we are gu we are playing away. congo wil be shocked & they wil throw brottles & stones on us todays believe me if u want or not, Zambia wil carry the day.
even if u are in west africa & u hate zambia but today im sorry u wil be shocked coz zambia wil carry the day.
Congolese are not as ignorant as west african fans. I do not think they will throw stones when their team is losing. It’s the west africans who behave like that. Case in point are Guinean fans who assaulted Zesco players when their team was losing.
And probably north africans too.
correction : i mean we are good when we are playing away.
#Fazfootball FREE ENTRY TO BOTH CONGOLESE AND ZAMBIAN FANS FOR CONGO VS ZAMBIA AT KINTELE
