Confirmed: Injury rules Fashion out of Algeria & Zimbabwe AfCON Qualifiers

Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala will miss Zambia’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria Zimbabwe after he sustained an injury playing for his club on Saturday evening.

The ZamFoot Crew can exclusively review that the KV Oostende attacker had a recurrence of the ankle injury that had kept him out for about two weeks from mid February.

Sakala was playing only his second match after returning from injury but he pulled out in the 82nd minute of KV Oostende’s 1 – 0 win over Excel Mouscron.

He disclosed that to the ZamFoot Crew that he was ready to travel and it was unfortunate that he could not travel and he had since informed the technical bench.

“It’s the same injury I had three weeks ago. I twisted my ankle,” he said.

“Its unfortunate that I am not coming”.

The 24 year old striker is having his best season in Europe having already scored 13 goals and he is currently top scorer for KV Oostende, the 4th placed team in the league.

He was part of the Chipolopolo squad that played back to back Africa Cup qualifiers against Botswana and was named for the must win games against Algeria and Zimbabwe on 25th and 29th March respectively.
