Clifford Mulenga available for Chipolopolo call up

Forest Rangers forward Clifford Mulenga has said he is available for selection whenever the Chipolopolo need his services.

The 2007 CAF Young Player of the Year surprised his critics with eye-catching performances for the Ndola based side in the super league.

The left footed winger scored 11 goals, five less than league top scorer Ricky Banda.

On the background of that form, there are whispers on the Copperbelt that his experience might be handy for the Chipolopolo ahead of the AFCON qualifiers.

“I would say yes I haven’t officially retired,” the 34 year old said on Sun FM‘s talk show.

“If the team feels they need someone with my qualities I will definitely take up the chance because I am a Zambian,” he added.

Mulenga emerged on the scene in 2005 at the Cosafa Under-20 where they tormented opposition defenders with Rainford Kalaba.

It was during this period that Mulenga, Kalaba and Felix Katongo were drafted into the Chipolopolo set up.

While Kalaba and Felix Katongo went on light up the stage at three African Cup of Nations -2008, 2010 and 2012- Mulenga became a bit by player.

“I stopped taking advice, I became independent too early according to my dad,” he has been quoted by Bola yakumwesu facebook page.

  1. Isn’t this the boy who said he didn’t care anymore because he had finally obtained a residence permit in South Africa?
Drafting someone who is 34 into the national team is simply blocking upcoming youngsters. Goalkeepers are different but outfield players, too late.

  2. This is the player who came close to Kalusha Bwalya’s skill and technique in Zambia. What a talent but his character let him down. If he has learned his lesson why not come and help the team if he can play?

    Call him up.
