Chipolopolo receive new Kappa kit

Chipolopolo fans today got the first glimpse of the new Zambia national team Kappa kit after the players used the Kappa training kit for the first time.

The  Chipolopolo were in an unfamiliar Black and white kit for the Thursday training but Zambianfootball.co.zm can reveal that the kit is three colors with the match day kit in orange and green.

The ZamFoot Crew also understands that FAZ is yet to enter an official deal with Kappa but bought the kit off the company’s official market.

  1. It is just unfortunate that the new kit (a beautiful kit) will witness a defeat with just the very first match. Usually after the storm is calmness. Maybe after the storm of defeat, success may follow with win over Cameroon and Algeria and then defeat by Nigeria in the 2nd leg and the win over Algeria and Cameroon. How about that? Bye bye World Cup Russia.

    • Totally agree… where is the white coming from? Let us use the colours on our flag…We need an identity for crying out loud…like the iconic jersey we wore when we won the Afcon, regardless of who the jersey supplier is let us stick to our national colors.Nigeria (green and white) Egypt(red black and white) Cameroon(green red and yellow)… let us be proud of our national colors(green, orange, black or red)we have one of the most beautiful flags in the world… let us honor that and who we are…I hate the white colour.

  2. Ok nice training kit, now show us the real home and away kits.
Since when did we see the Mighty Chipolopolo wearing City of Lusaka kit.

Muleibwelamo Zambia has 5 colours in the flag and we expect that, we also
want to wear new Kappa kit when supporting but not City Ya Moto.

Where can we buy the Jerseys?

  3. CHANGE WILL ALWAYS COME WITH RESISTANCE.SURFICE TO SAY YES ITS BEEN LONG OVER DUE AND FOR SURE WE NEEDED A BETTER JERSEY THAN THE RECENT ONE.OF COURSE THE STRIPED(AFCON WINNING JERSEY)WAS THE BEST OF ALL TIME TO SAY THE LEAST.NOW KAPPA LOOKS OKAY THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS JUST TOO PLAIN.YES,THE TOP IS TOO PLAIN.THESE GUYS ARE REPRESENTING ZAMBIA AND THEREFORE THE JERSEY NEEDED TO HAVE THE USUAL FAZ LOGO WITH AN EAGLE ON TOP AS A REPRESENTATION OF MOTHER ZAMBIA.I HOPE WE WE HAVE THE GREEN,ORANGE AND BLACK BECAUSE WHITE HAS NEVER BEEN A PART OF OUR FLAG COLOURS.WE ARE NOT GHANA NO!!

  4. Only the logo is missing, otherwise nice. The one thing I didn’t like about nike was this idea of bringing their own combination of colours to our jersey. This thing of wearing green shorts and a copper top was Nike thing ! Old school guys on this for a will tell you its supposed to be Copper top, black shorts and ornage socks – that should be the Zambia home kit. But today, we even accept our tops as being “Orange” and not copper. Check out our reebok kit in 96 afcon – that was copper, even el sporto tried to create that colour, not the arrogance of nike where they just produce orange and dump it on us !

  5. Ponga explains why Zambia will don Kappa

FAZ general secretary Ponga Liwewe on Thursday explained the provisional deal to have Zambia move to Italian sports apparel maker Kappa.

Zambia will wear Kappa for the 2018 World Cup Group B qualifiers against Nigeria at home on October 9 and away against Cameroon on November 7 while Football House and the Italian kit supplier continue their protracted negotiations.

Below is the transcript of Ponga’s interview with the press on Zambia’s prospective new kit:

-ON THE TEAM USING KAPPA FOR NIGERIA GAME

    They will wear kappa.

Kappa is one of the companies we are in discussions with.

-HOW FAR THE NEGOTIATIONS HAVE GONE?

In fact we have reached an advanced stage.
Obviously we are in between kit deals, between Nike and Kappa, with time, kit wears out so while in the course of discussions, we have opted for this game to use Kappa kit because we cannot continue to use kit which has reached its sell-by date.

We have bought the kit from Kappa….. you can call it what you want.

    -WHY HASN’T A LONG-TERM DEAL BEEN REACHED?

Because it is not a thing you do in one day, when you do a deal of that magnitude, it runs into hundreds of thousands of Dollars.

It is not a deal you deal you can finalise in the shortest time.

-WHAT HAPPENED TO THE NIKE DEAL?

We are also coming from a background where we have been discredited among kit suppliers from the way in the way the previous deal was handled from which conditions were breached with Nike.

And in this line of business, where you have a few main suppliers, you know reputation is an important thing how you handle suppliers you deal with with.

So this has been a baring with negotiations with several kit suppliers, not only with Kappa, but with other suppliers.

It has been an issue that has come up time and again; the way the previous deal was handled and the way it ended.

  6. The national team jersey should be in the form of our national flag not this is one. it look like a football club not a national team FAZ can you be serious please because this is not the club but the national team jersey

  7. Zamfoot or bloggers. Does anyone remember or know what happened to the following footballers from years past.

    – Paul Chellah: striker from Mufulira Wanderers. Was top goal scorer for a number of seasons and was finally capped at the National team level by the late George Mungwa

    – Sunday Kalunga: Midefielder with Nkana I think

    – Onasis Mwakapuki: Striker. played his trade in SA back in the day

    – Elijah Tana: what is the old man doing now?

    – Elijah Litana: if you don’t know him then you and I need to sit down for a lesson in Zambian football

  8. According to the little information have paul chellah died I think some three years ago while Elijah tana is an asistance coach at nchanger ranges the last time I check on Elijah litana he was a coach at mining rangers as for the rest of these players I don’t know them
