Chipolopolo temporal Kappa match-day kit revealed

The Zambia national football team Kappa match day jersey’s have been leaked ahead of the 2018 Russia World Cup qualifier match against Nigeria on Sunday.

The team for the first time yesterday wore the Kappa training kit when they trained at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

As indicated yesterday by Zambianfootball.co.zm, FAZ has confirmed that the kit the Chipolopolo will use was bought off the shelf.

FAZ General Secretary Ponga Liwewe said the negotiations with Kappa were at an advanced stage though a deal has not been sealed.

“The Chipolopolo will wear Kappa on Sunday, but we have not sealed a deal yet with them. We have reached an advanced stage in negotiations I must mention,” Liwewe told the Times of Zambia.

“With time, kit wears off and while we are finalising we have opted to buy Kappa because we can’t continue to use the Nike kit that has reached its sell-by date.”

On why it has take FAZ time, Liwewe said they were finding it difficulty to negotiate the next deal for Chipolopolo.

Because of how the previous deal was handled, conditions were breached with Nike and it has been a stumbling block in negotiations with not only Kappa but other kit suppliers.

The issue always comes up on how the deal with Nike was handled and how it ended,” Liwewe added.

    • They are finding it difficult to negotiate a deal…the incompetence of the previous administration has not left us yet! Well done FAZ, the green is beautiful!!!

  1. We expect a much better design once an offical contract is signed. Anything is better than that ZAWA uniform we have been wearing the last few years. Good start

  2. Yaba. That green jersey looks so generic though. It lacks character. Its like someone got a green jersey and ironed on a flag and FAZ emblem. By the way, Kappa logo is sooo obnoxious, it stands out more prominently than anything else (which is their style).

    • That was exactly my thought as well but like Zamfoot explained in an earlier posting, this is a just an over the counter purchase and as such no official jersey has been designed for us till a contract is signed. I don’t buy the story that we can’t find a logical sponsor to dress us. Kappa should be begging us and not the other way round. Under Armour and New Balance are companies that I know would love to make inroads in Africa and so FAZ needs to cast their net wider instead of sticking to the traditional suppliers like Nike and Puma

      • Logic, the biggest hangup like they are saying has been the way the last deal ended. We are being treated like a plague right now, because the last admin basically willingly breached the contract with Nike and the performance of national team doesn’t even warrant the money or the trouble. If Zambia was ranked in the top 10 and winning games, pretty sure kit sponsors would be falling over themselves

  3. @Logic-clearly you and most people are all just reading without UNDERSTANDING what FAZ is saying; ‘I don’t buy the story that we can’t find a logical sponsor to dress us. Kappa should be begging us and not the other way round.’ Like ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Have you asked yourself this question,THE NIKE EXPIRED IN 2014,WHY DIDN’T KALU AND HIS PEOPLE GET US A NEW KIT DEAL?? The simple truth is that Kalu’s admin EMBARRASSED Nike-they went to china and printed their own replicas-no sane Kit manufacturer would ever get into a contract with FAZ latter on BEG FAZ-thats a lie!! It will be a miracle if FAZ even gets money from Kappa considering the serious breach of contract Kalu and his people played with Nike. We are even lucky Nike is not suing FAZ!! Since 2014,we have been buying Kits for National Team all because a few selfish people wanted to line their pockects-the problem we have in zambia is that we are so used to corruption that the day anyone tries to fix it,we think he is doing an injustice to us pantu its taboo yo have transparency…kamo feeding us lies, was it not Simwanza or whoever who was boasting ati ‘ijo FAZ has a million offers for kit deals once the Nike deal expires?’ Well, the kit deal expired, for TWO years,Kalu’s FAZ with all the million offers they had still continued buying kit from Nike-does that make sense to you? A broke association choosing to buy its kit rather than sign a deal from the millions of offers it had received?! Lets be serious, let us not just criticize just for the sake of being cadders, zambia will never rid of corruption if we accept cadres and yes men just because we are hero worshipers-WRONG IS WRONG…Someone at FAZ clearly screwed the nation with the Nike deal and the current FAZ is paying the price for it!

    • Reading without understanding is a cheap shot and have the decency to resist the childish urge to take shots at someone you don’t know. You can use a few lessons in good manners. I’m not by any means trying to absolve Kalusha and Pivoty in particular or any wrong doing. Even with our diminished fortunes, a country like Zambia has built enough of a reputation to be able to attract decent sponsorship for our national team and anyone who tells you different is simply economical with the truth. The biggest hold up in may of these contracts is the back end funding that comes with with these contracts. Sponsors are advertising their products with the hope of reaping more through brand visibility and sales of merchandise. If you did your homework, you will remember that the Nike deal was a bedroom deal that Kalusha orchestrated with his wife and thats why the details were unknown to the whole country. Brands like under armour and New balance are clamouring for a footprint in Africa but if FAZ limits its contacts to the usual brands this is what the end result becomes…begging for a deal. The issue of jersey piracy is common all over the continent and knowing fully well that the people responsible for the breach are no longer involved with the game, I have a hard time buying this crap about no one wanting to dress us. Someone needs to sit down with that mess

  4. Looooool. What kinda jersey is this? Looks so so local. What else do you expect when all zambia could go for was kappa..loool. what is kappa? Big boys are wearing Adidas, Nike and Puma but zambia will wear kappa. LooooL.
We will surely deal with u guys come sunday. Get ready
    Zambia 0-3 Nigeria

  5. Lol…whats the point of giving you a different opinion if you have it ‘engraved’ that Zambia is ‘big’ and kit suppliers should be the ones clamoring for your signature; it’s called an illusion or rather living in a bubble…A) What os Chipolopolo’s FIFA ranking? B) Have Chipololopolo qualified to AFCON C) How and why did the previous kit deal end? Did Kappa poach us like the way Chelsea will buyout its current deal so that they sign with a new supplier?
Chipololopolo has NOTHING to bargain with! Thats the harsh reality. My argument wit you Mr (Miss/Mrs) Logic is that you think that FAZ is just being ‘lazy’ and they could have signed with even better brands by now right? For me,that is simply NOT true,a breach of contract is a serious offence,FAZ’s reputation is forever tarnished. The Exec’s of all these big companies meet and talk all the time,i bet everytime some kit supplier does a background check on FAZ,they get a red flag…No kit manufacturer will beg FAZ,thats why even the Kappa deal might just be kit supply only-no annual fee paid to FAZ. The best offer FAZ got was the Mafro deal which was $300,000 if I am not mistaken-those are the facts boss! Let Kamanga and Ponga and the crew bring sanity to our game, then you can crucify them but not now-it’s so unfair!!

  6. EXPOSED: Zambia To Play Extra Men In Midfield To Nullify Threat Of
    Iwobi, Iheanacho and Ideye Nigeria
nyirenda of Zambia appears to have devise a
cautious approach ahead of Sunday’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers
against Nigeria in Ndola. The open training session of the Zambian team witnessed by
Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent saw the coach deploy extra
men in midfield with the duo of Chisamba Lungu and captain
Rainford Kalaba playing in a more defensive role. Nyirenda is applying the approach to frustrate Nigeria in the midddle
before the ball gets to the dreaded trio of Brown Ideye, Kelechi
Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi. Primarily they plan to give the Nigerian midfield duo of Mikel Obi and
Eddy Onazi less time and space to make use of the ball, when they
are in session to stop them from spraying passes to the
forwards. It appears the Zambians have settled to catch the Eagles on the
break as the coach primarily focused on quick break during the
    training session watched by Owngoalnigeria.com.

    • Apart from Awobi , all these guys you praising are bench warmers playing less than 20 mins a game. Besides African football reduces the so/called pros to average players every time they grace this majestic continent.

  7. the names of Nigerian footballers is sounding like thunder in the ear of Zambians, so their coach is working restlesly to contain the heros but he just cant… Lol

  8. But you Nigerians were those players dead or there where not born yet when you failed to qualify to afcon?because i don’t see where these praises are coming from and believe you me you players are useless and you only admit in your heart on sunday.slaughter house is waiting for you.

  9. apart from Iwobi tell me which Nigeria player u hav ever saw on bench and tel me if their club wil ever risk their money for any zambia player.. Ur player at dat small losc lille is always on bench and he is the one zambians are countin on.. African football is in west Africa,,,

    • Do your research again Nigerian Wizkid. Yes we do not have the big names that you are flshing around but we have a good team spirit. The fulcrum of our team is based right here in Africa which is nothing to be ashamed of. For your own information, big name players don’t win games, it’s performance that does. Just yesterday, a star studded Ghana drew blanks against Uganda, at home!
