Mathieu Dossevi’s lone goal gave Togo a 1-0 win over Zambia in an international friendly match played at the Stade Municipal de Lome on Friday.
The Standard Liege midfielder netted for the hosts in the 22nd minute following a good moment of individual brilliance.
The match was evenly contested thereafter and on the balance, Zambia reorganised and improved after conceding, a draw would have been a fair result.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Executive Committee Member Blackwell Siwale who is also Leader of Delegation said the most important part of the match was to learn from mistakes made.
“At this level only a mistake will cost you a match and that is what happened, ” Siwale said.
“It is always bad to lose but I feel it is more important to pick lessons from the match.
“It was a high intensity game and every player put in his very best. The boys are not sad about the loss at all because they are aware that they need to focus on the Guinea Bissau match on June 4. That is what is important.
“We thank the Togolese FA for this practice match and the hospitality accorded to us.”
Zambia will play another preparatory match against The Gambia on May 30.
Salulani Phiri replaced Evans Kangwa while Conlyde Luchanga came on for Lubambo Musonda and Clatus Chama replaced Chris Katongo.

HARDLUCK go go
Benson Sakala should be playing pa 6, umwaiche mukali.
Lesson learned as always.
To nail a heavy object ones lots of nails…this headline almost gave me a heart attack Zamfoot…I thought we were beaten 4 – 0…eye on the ball Chipolopolo!!!
That was my thought too. Too excited with headlines Ba Zamfoot.
Good results for me because this should give the boys fighting spirit to tore guinea bessau apart following this loss.GO GO BOYS we are winning no compromise here.
Mweene, kabaso chongo, kabamba, chama adrian, sunzu ,sinkala, lubambo musonda, chisamba lungu, king david collins ntofontofo mbesuma, kalengo, master kalaba no size my first eleven line up.mbesuma and kalengo should just be upfront help each other and kalaba should operate from the minefield to the left flank to help chisamba and push the ball to mbesuma and kalengo upfront
Mayuka should have been called to give extra thrust up front. This evans Kangwa boy is weak. Luchanga is still how an amateur. Lwandimina has a serious illness why leave out experienced players like Mayuka. We had no plan b against Congo that’s why we dropped points.
Yes Muyaka but pa bench
@zamfoot, Could you share the game’s stats. Shots-on goal, posession..e.t.c
We are used to gettin nailed there is nothing new.#NextStoryPlease
i can agree with Mr john mayuka, mbola, kondwani mtonga & munthali shud have been called, lwandamina has failed we need an expatriate coach.
mayuka is scoring goals in egypt u can not compare him with luchanga
we wil be in trable in bissau, they have got a portuguese coach Mr Paulo Torres & there players are professionals we need to watch out for Zezinho
How many goals has mayuka scored chiken is just okey you cant pick everyone.give him time
@ evans mulenga. Mayuka scored seven goals . He joined zamalek in january . Mbesuma scored 14 the whole season.. Mayuka remains the best in terms of everything . Mayuka played for bigger clubs than mbesuma and kalengo . Kalengo and mbesuma are making history in league of amutuers.. Kalengo and mbesuma attact will never win afcon and take zambia to world cup. A flesh pair of legs is needed. Worse the boys are playing without a coach..
It appears as though we won’t win this one.Our opponents are aware that it is only by winning this game that they stand a chance. The 2 draws at that cost us 4 points will cost us qualification. Congo will top this group as they beat Kenya who have nothing to play for. End of the story
we will win against GB
If chipolopolo iz good shud win two remaining match they will qualify. As best runners up or group winners but i do not foresee winning the team iz very poor in deed .
watch out for zezinho, Idrissa camara & jose lopez
im stil waiting for key Hammer, stampy & Billy to come in
Chipolopolo will beat guinea
watch out for kalengo , king David, kalaba and katongo.
u cant bring mayuka nd put him on the bench u alredy have mbesuma who has blended with the team for mbola, muntali, kondwani, lodrick kabwe i think they deserve it dont remove luchanga his our next zambia
Everybody is now a coach. Let’s leave the coaching to the Chicken George. We are winning.
Fair result Zambia will triumph in Guinea no doubt.
that is true ba kasama boys, those who bleming the coutch did u watch the game the pedegree of togo we re far behind our boys to take those guys on we re a gud team and mark my words we re wining in bissau we dont easily loose at this stage i just hope our coutch ii b tactical enough they re gud on counters
