Chipolopolo elimination confirmed, Bissau in historic qualification

Zambia will not get second best position

Kenya on Sunday afternoon handed Guinea Bissau a historic qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament when they beat Congo Brazaville 2 – 1 in Nairobi in the penultimate round of the Gabon 2017 AFCON race.

Guinea Bissau who yesterday beat Zambia 3 – 2 have qualified to the finals of the tournament against all odds, a team which has never been in the FIFA top 100 and does not even have a pro league.

Despite this result, results elsewhere have confirmed that Zambia will not be at next year’s tournament as they cannot attain enough points to claim a spot as one of the two best second placed teams.

The rules of qualification are as follows:

There will be thirteen groups, twelve with four teams and one with three teams (plus the host nation which play friendlies with the three teams). The group winners and two best overall runners-up will qualify for the tournament

Unfortunately for Zambia, the second placed teams in Groups A (Tunisia), B (Central Africa Republic) and D (Burkina Faso) have already attained 10 points with one more round of games to go while Zambia can only reach a maximum of nine points even if they beat Kenya with a cricket scoreline in the final group game.

Guinea Bissau qualify as group leaders on 10 points while Zambia and Congo are stuck on 6 points with tail enders Kenya having managed 4 points.

The match between Zambia and Kenya in on 2nd September 2016 will just be a formality for the Chipolopolo.

This will be the first time since 2004 that the 2012 African champions will not be playing at the prestigious tournament.

Zambia was under the tutelage of Patrick Phiri when they lost to Benin in 2003 to miss out on the 2004 tournament.

    • The last part of the qualification rule above answers your question my good sir! Congo losing to Kenya means that they like us can’t catch Gbissau for we shall only end up at 9 points against 10 if we both win our last games.

We messed up AT HOME, YOU DON’T DRAW AT HOME TWICE TO TEAMS LIKE GBISSAU AND CONGO…The last dent in Kalusha’s FAZ!

      • When we were drawing with Congo Kalu had left FAZ— and his administration had never lost a game in this qualifier

  1. The most painful thing is we will watch as some other teams comes from nowhere to qualify for the World Cup again! Like Togo did, like Angola did…

Missing out on Afcon is ok, we can actually use this time to build our team much stronger in order to attack World Cup qualification which we will be oprank outsiders for.

We need a coach though, we can’t go anywhere without the right coach.

Our team was flat with no confidence. Our team was disjointed. Our should not have travelled around west africa the way did because we are used to forming base in southern africa and going from there, i feel that could worked against us. Our players were to slow to reach camp. Pitiful and we our out, let it be a lesson.

    • Some people cant see the effect of the shambolic friendly games! You are right..how can a player arrive the same day and be named in the starting line up sure!Assembling the team in South Africa and travelling for one friendly would have done it for us.Well inexperience by the new FAZ team was a factor!Trying to prove their worth in a wrong way

    • You guys are not thinking about the weather. You do realize that it is winter in South Africa and summer in West Africa. It is blazing hot North of the Equator and you guys want to camp the team in South Africa. This is the sort of blame game that needs to be avoided. If you want to do true Root Cause analysis you will look at this from the view point of the entire qualifiers. Zambia failed because they failed to beat both Congo and Guinea Bissau at home. This failure was not based on one game. You can’t wait until last round in boxing match to knock out your opponent and then blame the defeat on the last round.

This is a collection of mistakes and miscues that have brought us here. There is no reason to be failing to beat Guinea Bissau when we played them at home. This is a case too little too late.

      • Ultimately i think the coach takes the blame. I don’t see allot of stability in our team safe for relying on mbesuma and kalengo. The midfield does not seem like it shown at any stage and the backline changed so much over the games it seems…

The idea that we set base camp first in home terriotory is to ground the team together. That is much more important than acclimatisation. We needed to come together to form a team first before focusing on friendly international matches. This is hugely important Andrew Kamanga, Faz, if you are reading this. We were not set yet, it is vital the team does proper training camps to build confidence and gain cohesion before being tasked with matches. We spent most that time travelling and getting used to different surroundings than focusing.

International friendlies are fine, but the two was too much. It got in the way of real training as i mentioned. Always make time for proper training which is where the team is formed and insure each member, captain included is there soonest. Especially this do or die match we had.

  2. What we need is a good structure. We need a good foundation. Youth academies . We seem to be putting up a building starting from the roof. NO. A solid foundation is what we need. Good coaches come to help when there is a solid pool of good individuals to be utilized technically. Coaches don’t come on to teach how to play football. They are in for chipping the rough edges of the block.

  3. This is the chicken $hit Kalu and his corruption left. Kamanga took over when the damage was already done. Now it’s time to fire this useless coach that is benching Chisamba for not boshaling him for play time.

  4. @Zamfoot, wont the difference between the top team and second placed play a part in picking best runners up. If we get 9 points for example, and Guinea Bissau ends with 10 points, we’ll on have a single point’s difference with the top team, or a 10% difference. And if other teams get 10 points on 2nd position when their top team has may 15, it will mean we have a better percentage of points than others. Am pained that Zambia has done ths damage to us the fans. How could we manage just 6 points out of fire games? It is unacceptable. Lwandamina should go. The Kamanga campaigning men, e.g. Pulu and ba Rock said they needed an expatriate during Kalu’s tenure, and that is why they wanted Kamanga to rule. Now what is Kamanga doing about it? I don’t want to start insulting him.

    • Those people you have mentioned never realised that this whole mess was an institutional and country challenge and not Kalus. Now that they are in the driving seat ,reality is slowly dawning in.Kamanga will not manage to bring a foreign coach because he does not even know where to start from.

  5. Well it must suck to be a Zambian supporter…With ur hearts in ur mouth whenever they have a match… High Blood pressure must be common in Zambia. 1 thing I have noticed abt Zambians is how quick they r able to shift the blame on others. If it’s not ref they blame, then it’s the host or its the climate or its the coach or CAF is corrupt or FIFA ranking is a joke..now U say a foreign coach is the answer. Renard did gud for u n still got kicked out. Buh wen u win a match then they begin to glorify themselves ..’Chipolopolo is back’ Smh bunch of jokers. Buh u r jst ignoring the real n true fact. There is not enough talent in Zambia. The real problem r ur players…jst be honest.. U jst riding on the back of 1 successful AFCON n really no 1 cares abt past glory… Everything is abt now n the future… Zambia needs a youth development system…it’s very common to find such academies in West Africa.. Y they perform so well at AFCONs… It will take tym buh it will pay off…let the oldmen in the Team sleep…like Sunzu n katongo… They have done thier best… Take reponsibility for ur actions no blame games. It’s getting old. How do u expect to qualify to the World Cup when u can’t even make it to the AFCON? Do you know the teams u have to beat to get there? It will take a miracle for Zambia to get to the world cup…coz even the top 5 teams in Africa r no joke. All the best Zambia n Gm frm GH.

  6. nothing like percentage in determining best runners-up. The 2 second best team with most points in all 13 groups qualify. Just 2 teams.

    Zambia is out.

  7. zamfoot I think you need to check your facts, in 2007 south Africa qualified as the best looser even if they were hammered three goals to nill by zambia after a draw in zambia. they qualified together with zambia who were group leaders on two points difference while there were other teams who had more points than them but the difference between the group leaders was winder hence south Africa was picked

  8. Good newz zambia failed to qualify . People are now able to see the difference btwn kalu and kamanga.. They played five matches and failed to record a win. This has never happened the dayz of kalu.. People used to attack kalu for having a hand in team selection. Great kalu knew the coaches were useless.. Swaziland are on verge of qualifing with the team of local based players. Those idiots who wrote on this blog saying zambian league is week and it have below average players to hell with your statements. You are very myopic. You trying to swaziland league is better than zambian league ..

  9. The damage had been done when kamanga took over. Kamanga sent this team to west Africa and they got to bissau early. The blame lies solely on the coach. Leaving out experienced players like mbola, chisamba, mayuka, singuluma etc. He’s a total failure he failed to read the game.

  10. I dnt understand ths ba zamfoot, ar u telling us that n our group only one team qualifies, z it nt that in each group only two teams qualifies that wn thy wil see wh ar th bst losers. if Congo also hs nine points, ar u telling us that thy ar also out? pls gentlemen anyone wth th ryt info to mak me understand.

  11. Zambia should emulate from zimbabwe they call up players with good health and on merit. Calling mfune for national duty it a mockery. Thats why sunzu is not performing well. They are partinering with rotten playerz.. Plus some of the players are not happy with the team selection it affects the performance of players.. Katongo should quit now and sit on the bench as an assistance.. Katongo has football brains..

  12. Ok got news of this whole thing that Guinea Bissau fielded an ineligible player in both their games against Kenya and as such will be docked all six points.

Has anyone picked up on this story? is there any truth to it?

Aparently Egypt too have been docked 6 points for the same transgression and as such Nigeria now top that group.

Zamfoot is there any truth to this or is it rumors doing the rounds?

  13. if its true then which means kenya wil qualify & we are stil out, yaba! ikaiyokosa, lwandamina has put us in a difficult situation the calculators have stop to work

  14. afcon winning captain should be elevated on technical bench with immediate effect.. The man is vocal and brave . He exposed corruption in team selection and no supported him.. Dat cosafa team shud be reselected and fire chicken and the whole techinical..

  15. Chapala kwati ama ghanaias batampo ukutwibila amano aya ma chipolopolo funs issue so nalabomfya ichibemba ne chisungu, apa lwandamina tatulemufwaya ba faz twapapata fwayeni coach uwingatutwala ku w.c pantu nga mwamona fye teti tuye ku russia ukumonafye nefyo tuleteya & if zambia and congo ar out ninshi ba caf somehow balabaela pantu efyo naishiba two teams qualifies frm each grup.

  16. It is always going to be difficult if you can’t win home games. I personally think Zambia played a very good and inspiring game. Our Keeper needs more game time and that ref also needs to re-read the rule book.
I think Lwandamina has been maturing with every game he coaches and I would maintain him If I had the powers to do so.
Let’s take time off to re-organize. We are down for now, no 2017 AFCON, but not out.

  17. I saw this coming, how do you elect someone as faz presdent who failed to perform at club level and expect him to peform as faz presdent .shameless zambians.this is what you get when you fail to reason properly.you think running faz is just to be transparent alone no it evolve a lot of things were are those people who thought that kamanga is a saviour to zambia football

  18. People, you should realize that the National team has played only one qualifying game under Kamanga, the rest were under Kalusha. In fact that’s were we lost it by drawing with Guinea at home.
Don’t glorify Kalu in this case. By the way have you ever thought of those players who committed silly mistakes that resulted in goals could have been under instruction to loose the game because of certain interests? In football this is a possibility though no common in Zambia, but now a possibility with camps which has sprung up.

    • Just admit that Kamanga,s record in football is pathetic and we will pay dearly for it!We have played 5 games under Kamanga without a single win.He does not have the leadership qualities that inspire players in such situation in the way Kalu did! This was expected after the BIG man at the Ministry of Sports conspired with RB to get rid of Kalu. This is the mess we avoided in 2012!

  19. Ma news
Harambee Stars’ chances of playing at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations have received a big boost, after the team was awarded six points it recently lost to Guinea Bissau.

This after the tiny West African nation was docked points for fielding two ineligible players in the games against Stars last week.

Confirming the decision, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) media liaison officer Junior Binyam said the decision had been reached as per the rule book.

“This is the simplest mistake to punish because the rules are that you cannot field players who are either suspended or are not allowed to play for one reason or the other. The law and punishments are very clear,” Binyam told Nairobi News.

According to CAF records, Bissau keeper Jonas Mendes wasn’t supposed to have played against Kenya because he had already been booked twice in the earlier games of this competition. He, however, didn’t serve his one match ban.

    ELIGIBLE PLAYER

Still, Picket Djassi who made his debut in the away clash was not eligible to participate because the processing of his nationality from Portuguese to Guinea Bissau has not been formalized.

Thus, Kenya now goes top of Group E with seven points in three matches. Harambee Stars lead both Zambia and the Republic of Congo by a single point with two games remaining. Guinea Bissau are relegated to last place with a single point.

Only the top placed finishers are guaranteed automatic qualification to feature at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“This is great news. We are happy with the stroke of luck that has come our way. We will take full advantage of this to correct our mistakes and play well in the remaining two games, so as to qualify for the Afcon, Stars coach Stanley Okumbi pointed out.

This news is certain to be received positively by a majority of the ardent football fans in the country.

  20. Hahahaahahaa o God what a day. I am just enjoying readung comments on Zamfoot and Kickoff. Well if this is true, I will be glad to have Chipo back in AFcon but Zambia has the tendency of blowing this one too. Thev done it before.

  21. Please Please fellow brothers u out. Dont let this happen to u pleaasse

    Sun, 09 Oct 10:07:00 2011
A little more than a year after
hosting a successful World Cup, South
Africa woke up with a giant hangover
after a failure to understand the
rules saw them miss out on
qualification for the Africa Cup of
    Nations.
    Coach Pitso Mosimane admitted he
had changed tactics and played for a
draw in Saturday’s final qualifier at
home to Sierra Leone, thinking it
was enough to win the group and
    qualify for the 2012 finals.
    However, South Africa actually
needed a win to avoid being
    eliminated on head-to-head results
between the three teams tied at the
top of the table, but no one appeared
    to have studied the regulations
    correctly.
Despite playing out the draw, they
were pipped by outsiders Niger, who
    qualified for the first time.
    More embarrassingly, the Bafana
    Bafana celebrated their supposed
qualification at the end of the
    scoreless stalemate in Nelspruit
    (pictured), thinking they had done
enough to advance to next year’s
    finals co-hosted by Gabon and
    Equatorial Guinea.
“It’s very sad for South Africa
because the country deserves to be in
next year’s Nations Cup. I feel like I
    have failed,” Mosimane told reporters.
The coach, who took over after the
World Cup, was under the impression
    that goal difference was the
    determining factor to decide the
group winners and when he was told
that leaders Niger were losing in
Egypt, he changed tactics and settle
    for a draw.
Niger had led South Africa by a point
going into the final round of
    qualifiers on Saturday.
“Do you think I would have left
    (striker Lehlohonolo) Majoro on the
bench and put on a midfielder if I
knew that we needed a goal? It
    doesn’t make sense,” Mosimane said,
    before criticising the regulations.
“Africa is a jungle, my friend,”
    Mosimane added. “The European and
South American formats are so much
    better because everything is running
smoothly, but it’s very difficult to
    play in Africa”.
However, Mosimane was not the only
one to fall foul of a misreading of
    the rules.
    The state-run African Broadcasting
    Corporation proclaimed qualification
    and the South African Football
    Association president Kirsten
    Nematandani even went on television
    to congratulate the team.

  22. Good day all. Special regards to Mulenga Pulu. i have much respect for you. Where have u been? Kwame my Ghanaian brother i salute you.

Congratulation to Zimbabwe for saving the whole Southern African region the embarrassment as other giants(per cosafa definition) couldn’t make it.

Congrats to the Small West African country(Guinea Bissau) with a population of about 1.7Million and without a pro league(are their players farmers and fishermen?).
Hard luck to Zambia the 2012 African champions. The referee was biased and awarded cheap penalty and allowed a goal that the goalkeeper was clearly fouled. Next time we will appeal to CAF and Fifa to appoint only referee Janny Sikazwe for Zambia games.Even though the team did not qualify, it is a learning process for the players and the coach. We need to go back to the drawing board the re strategise for the WOrld cup qualifiers. Zambia will win u20 afcon to appease the fans.

Finally my fellow noisy West African neighbors, friends and brothers(Naija)though we disagree and argue on so many things like economy, education, football, music, movies, women and even jollof Rice(Non west Africans can research on that food) we love each other. We will surely miss Naija at the afcon 2017.The fans, the crowd and the music at the stadium will be missed. However, unfortunately fortunately depending on where you are coming from, personally its unfortunate, you will be joined by fellow British colony(a brother in colonialism) and fellow modern day afcon winners not the ones won by Gold Coast(before i was even born) and the days of Rhodesia to watch the afcon on a giant screen.

I pray the two countries bounced back stronger to represent Africa at the world cup.

  23. Even 2019 no africa cup for Zambia.am enjoying reading every comment written with anguish and anger by all you suckers who celebrated the ascendance of kamanga as Faz president.more pain for you suckers like John,Tc soccer man and the rest of the wailers.

    • @Matero boy, you are a clueless f00l, and it will serve you better to just shut up and let the adults discuss soccer here. Your daddy Kalu is the one that caused us this failure and the sooner you realize that, the better for you. When did the qualifiers start again? Yeah, during Kalu’s failed admin and during that time Zambia had pathetic results at home, so keep quiet and stop running your mouth and letting everyone realize how dull and ignorant you are.

      • Totally stupid to attribute Kmanga’s failure to Kalusha.Kalusha ‘s record is proven beyond reasonable doubt .Its up to little known Kamanga to prove his worth

        • I don’t whats more stupid, you not realizing that Lwandamina was hired by Kalu or that Zambia was struggling way before Kamanga took over. Kalu’s lack of leadership skills destroyed Zambia whether you like it or not. His greedy, arrogance, lack of accountability and corruption is what destroyed Zambian football and ultimately his reputation as FAZ president. What record are you singing praise about? Chris Katongo’s leadership won that AFCON, but morons like you will not give CK the much deserved credit he deserves, but instead will anoint a corrupt man that simply could not control himself when it came to corruption and arrogance, he felt like he was untouchable. Well news flash for you, your messiah lost the election so deal with it and its time you get used to it. Kamanga will clean up all the mess Kalu left behind and $hit will be back in order at FAZ and you will see Zambia will return to greater heights again, even better, to heights never seen before, so get some popcorn, sit back relax and watch. Kamanga just needs to do what the people want and call for, not be arrogant, corrupt and think it he owns FAZ, which he does not. He just has the responsibility to lead, not to own FAZ as what Kalu thought he did.

          • The more you write the more useless you appear , any of your incoherent rambling cannot be proven to hold any substance . The technical bench has been shaken and your useless FA chief is at liberty to hire any suitable coach as Chicken George is not tied with any FAZ contract . Any of Kamanga’s previous performances have been mediocre and cannot in anyway be placed in the same pot with that of great Kalu.

  24. Is it that some zambians are naturally dull and dumb or what?

Some of you just google news without checking the post date. That news of an ineligible Gb player against kenya is a April fool’s prank. A news that was posted on April 1st is now the trending news here in June.

Some are still getting fooled after 2 months.

      • And because of being dull, they let Kalu destroy Zambian football, and they continue to destroy Zambia but idiotic coach like chicken. Just watch.

        • Your dullness is actually more amazing if not threatening . How did Kalu destroy Zambian football ? Concisely give a correct answer explaining with proper quantifications before and after it was destroyed.

  25. Let’s just take a break from the 2017 AFCOn and reorganize our selves. We not the first to to miss out qualification after all .

  26. Mbesuma surely gave it his all in Bissau, and the younger players should be inspired by his excellent attitude. This is a person who simply loves to play the beautiful game! Now the focus should be on making an earnest effort against all odds to qualify for the World Cup 2018. Brackets will be drawn in two weeks.

    • @Andy, I like your attitude, just wished our players, coaches had the same attitude. Truth is Zambia is not going anywhere with a local coach, there is something about Zambians in general. They have no respect for their own, meaning the players don’t work as hard as they do, say if a coach was an expatriate. Adding to that, our coaches create that atmosphere because they are corrupt as hell. This is seen when they want to be bribed by players in order to get call ups or play time. Ask yourself this question, Why isn’t Chisamba Lungu playing when he is way better than most of the local players that are picked ahead of him? Simple answer is Chisamba has refused to bribe these corrupt coaches and this trend has been going on for a long time and Kalu’s admin made it worse as they were filthy corrupt people themselves. Fact is Zambia is not going anywhere with any local coaches period. They(coaches) are biased due to mainly the reasons I put above. Zambia should not waste any resources on football thinking they will qualify to World cup unless drastic changes are made. Kamanga is not doing his job and a rude awakening is about to hit his face. We have demanded results and he is not delivering yet. Results will start to show when this clueless coach is fired and when we bring a coach that understands on what it takes to make Zambia mighty again. Back in that day, nobody, I mean nobody wanted to see Zambia as their opponent, but now everyone is salivating to have us on their menu and that speaks volumes of our football standards currently, Its pathetic.

  27. Why did Ifarn Kawari leave that guy would have stayed to help chicken to read and analyse the games Zambia played in West Africa. Kalu was trying to bring Zambian Football to the current standards were you have one analysing and reading the opponents strength and weakness. I hope lessons have being picked as we move forward to the world cup qualifiers.

    • @Sulu Maybe Kalu had good ideas, but he was tainted with his corruptions and arrogance and because of that he became a liability to the development of the game. Kalu worried more about his pocket. And news flash you, Zambia’s poor perfomance started way back after AFCON 2012. A lot of vital things were misdirected by Kalu’s admin. Instead of building on the 2012 success, Kalu and his crew saw that as an opportunity to loot from Zambia from the “Kaili yali ninkhongole fye saga, game day tickets sales, dubious marketing deals awarded to Kalu’s wife to the Nike replica fake jersey. Adding all that, I don’t know any nation that can survive, let alone improve. Kamanga has an opportunity to make things right and the clock is ticking.

  28. Zambia needs to fire Lwandamina really fast and bring in Nkeshi and watch what happens. Nkeshi will drill Zambia to the heights never seen before as he will not only take Zambia to the world cup, but make them a feared opponent once again. The good thing with Nkeshi he works very well with less problematic players and as far as I know, Zambian players are easy to work with, so that will be cupcake for Nkeshi to make Zambia mighty again. Nkeshi, if needed, he instills discipline. He reads games and makes necessary. Forget, the recent issues with Nigeria, fact is Nkeshi was not supported by the clueless, corrupt Nigerian FA and like Zambia, Nigeria is pathetic and are missing out on the AFCON.

  29. Ikonko to be coach. Iwe kolwe chilwandamina kwena uli chipuba. How do FAZ allow a chicken to be coach?? Kamanaga naiwe uli mbwa fye

  30. If kalu is corrupt like you are saying why is he not arrest by the anti corruption commission?mr tc soccerman if you have evidence that kalu is corrupt, report him to the anti corruption commission.under kalu administration zambia has never miss Afcon that is a fact.in these qualifying games under kalu zambia played two games they draw nil nil at home with guinue and they beat kenya 2 goals to 1 and so kalu left zambia with 4 points and under kamanga zambia played 3 games they draw 1all at home and away against congo and lost 3goals to 2 against guinue check your facts right so when you say the damage was done under kalu that is a big lie.don’t use your emotions on judging kalu and kamanga use facts

  31. Any news about when FAZ will fire lwadamina, any rumors???Coz that’s the decision we expecting, he has not the expectations he has to go.period

  32. @THE UNDEFEATED GORO 1. You know that anti-corruption commission in Zambia is as corrupt as they come and that is why they are not prosecuting him because evidence is there, no need to even look for it.
    2. If think Zambia’s failure to qualify for the 2017 edition is as a result of Kamanga’s failure in your mind, then you are not being truthful to yourself and as such, not need to argue with you or atleast pump some senses in you in that regard..which I do think you need some senses pumped into your thick head. “under kalu zambia played two games they draw nil nil at home with guinue and they beat kenya 2 goals to 1 and so kalu left zambia with 4 points” Drawing with Guinea Bissau at home was a killer no matter how well you want to defend Kalu. This failure to qualify was written all over the wall way before Kamanga took over, but people like didn’t see it as you are always in denial..not surprised at all since all you Kalu kool aid drinkers never see the obvious. Kalu and his corrupt inner circles failure to develop the youth, failure to monitor and develop the local league resulted into this failure, coupled with a worthless, useless local coach that chooses pathetic local players at the expense of those that are doing well at their respective clubs like Chisamba, Mbola, Mayuka, Singuluma to name a few, put the last nail in the coffin to bury Zambia.
    3. I am not using emotions on judging the facts by the way. I am not saying Kamanga is the messiah. He is infact turning out to be a disappointment as he thinks he is still on honeymoon. Here is where Kamanga has failed so far in particular. He has failed to immediately bring in a coach that would have turned Zambia’s fortune immediately by selecting good performing players not bene Mkandawire, Luchanga, Mfune to name a few. You would, however agree with me that Kamanga has done well to give a chance to the team in readiness for international games, that is, travel arrangements are way better than the pathetic, cheap corrupt arrangements made during the Kalu’s regime. These are all facts. If Kamanga fails to bring in a foreign coach soon, brace yourselves for more epic failures. Zambian coaches will never be good as long as they are biased in player selection, yes I understand coaches select players they work well with, but benching Chisamba Lungu? A highly regarded captain at Oblast? We are talking about a racists Russia where black players are thrown at banana suckers, but Russians appreciate Lungu’s playing abilities. If you can’t play Chisamba against GB, whom are you going to play aginst? Are you kidding me? The problems at FAZ/ Zambia national teams are way deeper than you want admit and failed to Kalu admin made it worse. Keep denying that Kalu failed to live up to the expectation and it will saves no purpose to making you understand why we are in this situation in the first place. Let me repeat What I said in the previous commenting thread. KALU AND HIS ADMIN MISDIRECTED THEIR ATTENTION AFTER WINNING AFCON 2012, INSTEAD OF USING THAT AS STEPPING STONE TO IMPROVE ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL, THEY USED THAT AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOT FROM THE COUNTRY IN ANYWAY POSSIBLE BY THINKING ABOUT THEIR POCKETS FIRST. NOBODY COULD QUESTION THEM OF ANYTHING, THEY PRETTY MUCH OWN ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY WHATSOEVER and that was detrimental to our team and the league in general. Does my cap letters make you understand my point now? I sure hope.

  33. Mistake that Kamanga has done is to allow the chickennto continue. FAZ should seriously engage the GRZ to recruit an expatriate coach for world cup qualifiers. Not this cluesslese pot bellied thing you call a coach.

    • Thank you @gb, this is what we are saying. Zambian coaches are worthless..call me unpatriotic all you want, but these are just facts, but again we are talking about coaches without any solid educational backgrounds but just grade seven dropouts or these form 5 certificates they buy from Soweto market. We are toast believe me. Mxxm.

  34. CAF is so useless. How on earth is the best runners up supposed to be determined looking at the points accumulated. What happens if there is a tie in a group where point accumulated are the lowest for the top two compared to other groups?

CAF’s rules usually leave room for shifting goal posts. It is these same rules that made Sundowns jump from one competition to the other while the team that should have benefitted from being cheated could not be given a second opportunity.Crap.

    • You can defend your Kamanga as much you can but the record will always show we failed to qualify under his reign. How can a person who presided over the relegation of a club expect to perform at National level! Now that he is in charge let him give us the evidence of corruption that everyone though Kalu was hiding at Football House kaili! This guy will not last his term!

  35. If kalu was still around zambia was going to qualify. 4 points were not bad. Kamanga played three and recorded two. This is unaccepted. The man had time to study and change things completely .. The man is clueless and is too small to run zambian football.. This man will not last..

  36. At the end of the day players must take the biggest responsibility. High time individual players started taking matters in their own hands by forcing their way into “proper” European leagues where everything is quality. We can have a good Faz president or a foreign coach but if we don’t have quality on the pitch then lord help us!. Players should be aiming at Europe in their teens not when they’re in the late 20’s or early 30’s. With all due respect, we shouldn’t be boasting of pros plying their trade in DRC or RSA .

  37. Interest so mr tc soccerman even the anti coruption commission is also corrupt wow!wow! You just hate kalu for no reason because here in zambia former presdents and ministers have been persecuted before by this same anti corruption commission you are calling corrupt. the problem we have in zambia we don’t respect our heroes.kalu is not above the law if you have evidence that is corrupt report him to the anti corruption because some of us we are tired of hearing this song of kalu been corrupt

    • @Undefeated, Please don’t go Donald Trump on me by accusing everyone that disagrees with him or points at his flaws to be a hater. I don’t hate Kalu, as a matter of fact I love great Kalu and will forever admire and appreciate him our best player in my time. I don’t know if Zambia will ever have another great footballer like him, he could change a game within a blink of an eye, everytime time he played Zambia was capable of beating anybody and I mean anybody. He was world class, hands down, and for that I admire him and give him unmeasurable respect, but Kalu the FAZ president? Not me, I don’t like him, because of what he turned out to be. I was so excited when he became FAZ president as I thought he would clean house, develop the youth programs, he would bring changes, but he brought nothing other than worrying about his pocket his wife’s and all those corrupt thieves like bene Kasengele and Erik Mwanza and that’s my real issue. Leading FAZ with a remote control was my other issue. I don’t know why you prefer to ignore than, but that’s fine by me, its a free world afterall.

    • I hope we are not given the boardroom points. Its time to become elite now and quit whinnying about every game and begging for boardroom points. Zambia has a lot of talent to beat the fishermen of Guinea Bissau, but we failed, period.

  38. Wow. The level Cadreness on display is why Chipolopolo will go nowhere.

    1. Those blaming Kamanga and saying the records will always show that he is the one who failed?

Bushe (bemba) was he in charge for the whole qualification process? 2 home draws against mediocre opposition to include Guinea Bissau under Kalu and yet it is Kamanga’s fault??? How??

    2. Blaming friendlies and camping west Africa.

This made me laugh. Some people are suggesting Zambia should have camped in South Africa. The temperature in Johannesburg is currently 23 degrees Celsius. Guinea Bissau averages were around 31 degrees Celsius. Anyone who’s played football knows that you need to acclimatize to your environment.

    3. Blaming Kamanga for not firing George Lwandamina.

Kamanga found Lwandamina, and how many times has FAZ engaged government and been told there is no money. Truth of the matter is, it is an election year and money is being funneled elsewhere. So I don’t believe that story.

George Lwandamina was not upto the task and this was plain to see from Zambia’s failure to beat Guinea Bissau at home.

Conclusion: If we want this to be fixed before world cup qualifiers start let us look at finding a coach who can do the job. Lets offer him a real contract and allow them the freedom to pick his players.

Lets continue the spirit of getting the team good logistics as shown by FAZ on this game with Guinea Bissau.

Truth is we have a lot of players who are playing in foreign leagues, but not playing many games. Sunzu, and Mweene who are major pieces in the Zambia defense have probably played 15 games between them.

The failure of the youth teams means we have no real future to look to.

Allow junior players to develop in the junior teams. Patson Daka, Luchanga, these players were clearly not ready for prime time. There is nothing wrong with playing them in friendlies, but there is growth needed.

I will not speak ill of Christopher Katongo, despite age not being on his side. He has proven himself time and again as a truly deserving of the chipolopolo jersey.

    • You can laugh i explained what i said above. You can aclimatise people but better to insure they can play as a unit before hand… Zambia has not really shown consistently in these qulification games and we expected to get a result on what basis, number of friendlies played.

Friendlies are welcome but they have to be suited to the schedule and when required.

If you compare the amount the of time the national team has spent in training to previous afcons you will see the time is steadily more down to now it’s lowest i think. To much hoping things will work instead of working them out.

Even playing those internationals allowed Guinea bissau to scout us easily.

  39. Jesus Christ Luapula Fish, that’s some insight there on your corrupt PF. By the way do we still have bukabuka fish out there pa Zed? I agree with you though that fat Kambwili ran his mouth and he actually got $hit done when he was sports minister. I also agree with you that Lungu is a worthless piece of $hit that goes to eat elephant meat with dictator clueless Mugabe, while millions of Zambian kids are dying of hunger under the Kamwala and Manda hill bridges. Lungu is useless and unfortunately, considering that HH also screwed Zambians with enriching himself with privatization of state owned comapnies at the expense of Zambian people, it does not look promising that we will have a good president in Zambia. HH might as well bring in his Tonga people to take over everything that’s left and that is scary. Yes I also agree with you that corrupt thug Rupiah Banda was pathetic in trying to fight Kalu that time in order to impose Kamanga as FAZ president, but Kalu was screwing up things too, so its had to take sides on either evils. Your boy Sata actually let Rupiah Banda off the hook, wassup with that? Banda and his kids should have in prison, but Sata was all talk with no action whatsoever. But whatever.

  40. kalusha tried 2 engage an expatriate coach but de GRZ said they don’t hav money, l don’t think there is room 4 blaming kamanga or kalu as both have tried 2 bring in an expatriate coach but 2 no avail who 2 blame a bit z our president chagwa as he is busy dishing out our money 2 his cadres and buying votes from Zambians.

  41. I just went through the list of the 20 teams to be grouped for the 2nd round qualifiers. its no joke. I am even scared for my black stars even though we are likely to be seeded in port 1 to avoid countries like Ivory Coast,Algeria, Egypt or Senegal but the remaining countries link pose a lot of threat. If u have to qualify then you need to start preparing now.

  42. @Rascozy This is how I would want the groups to look like as it gives Zambia the best chance possible. Ghana is getting old and especially in the midfield that has save Ghana into recent powerhouse and Zambia would captailize on that, it would be fun just for the trash talk in my opinion. I also don’t want to us to be with the Arabs and the have recently been beating us at will. This is not chipolopolo days of great Kalu playing and because of that, the Arabs are beating us, so if we could avoid them then that would be good.
    Group A

    Cape Verde
    Congo Brazzaville
    Zambia

    Group B

    Cameroon

    Group E
    Senegal
    Guinea
    Morocco
    Libya

    • Come on Ghanaboy,Regards to you. You know you like that group I proposed, what? you’d like to be playing against Nigeria, Tricky Uganda, elbow throwing idiotic Cameroon and Mali? or prefer the Terrorists Lybia,Tunisia and Morocco in your group? I think you would like us just the fan of it? besides it makes the qualifiers more interesting with tempers high. I love rivalries and I do think Zambia/Ghana would continue to produce good games.

  43. Follow the above link. Or just copy it and follow in the html, Zambia has filed a complaint to CAF, and if CAF rules in our favour, we’l qualify. A smile at last

  44. The players are reluctant I think the Coach has to open his eyes before selecting am very good at watching football why and come you substitute Kalaba and Chris while the defence is weak was Chicken bribed or what if you look at Munthali donashano malama strong and tall engouh and pairing with Sunzu but the Coach has to go and find Someone who can think,. If the team is scoring just know that defence is weak to the opponent. Chisamba Lungu Told you Guys that dont relay on juniors too much its about experience butZA banned him because of his wise and now you fail to qualify.

  45. Kenya isn’t an underdog anymore..Look at the crop of players we have in our team.Zambian must know that next time we meet we shall whip you people clean.
