Chipolopolo arrive in Namibia

A 26 man Chipolopolo squad has arrived in Namibia ahead of this Saturday’s mouth watering Cameroon  2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The team left their South African  base on Thursday afternoon aboard South African Airways and connected from Johannesburg to Windhoek.

The team is now based at Windhoek’s Protea Hotel.

Saturday’s match will played in Katutura township at Sam Nujoma Stadium .

It will also be Belgian coach Sven Vandenbroeck’s first match in charge as a head coach after working as Cameroon assistant coach.

While the 2012 African Cup of Nations winners are the favourites, the Brave Warriors have a better head to head in the last five years.

Vandenbroeck has brought in a lot of experience in the team after he recalled the old guns.

African Cup of Nations winners Kennedy Mweene, Stoppila Sunzu, Nathan Sinkala and Rainford Kalaba are in the squad while Emmanuel Mbola, Kabaso Chongo and Lubambo Musonda have been on the scene for some time now.

From Zambia’s famed  Class of ’17 which won gold on home soil comes the likes Patson Daka, Fashion Sakala, Solomon Sakala and Enock Mwepu .

There’s this balance between the experience and youth in the side and that has brought optimistic to the Chipolopolo faithful.

The Zambia suffering defeat to Mozambique on match day 1 last year, the fixture against Namibia is a must win.

    • Looks good but who is you central striker? Id say Daka and Shonga and Fashion on his right and left. But then again if Augustine passes a late fitness test then who would you play?

  2. I can use kambole with patson daka. 4,5 i can use sunzu and Solomon sakala. If kalaba won’t be in form i can suggest bwana Spencer sautu to come in. If fashion sakala still selfish I can bring in lubambo mudonda. Mid its fine with nathan and mwepu.otherwise the weakest link on paper is the one to partner sunzu.

  3. Mweene , G.lungu left back , E.Mbola , centers , Sunzu and k.Chongo midfield Sinkala , Mwepu , Phiri ,wingers calm midfield Kalaba, Patson, Fashion and Kambole , that’s my team

  4. It’s very tough but I would rather use Sunzu and Chongo central defenders , Mbola on the left on the right back is tough I don’t know , midfielders, Sinkala, Mwepu ,Kalaba , striking Patson, kambole and forget Shonga , Fashion, Mulenga, it’s very hard , let’s go Chipolopolo, Chipolopolo let’s go

  5. 6. To be honest we have everyone for every position, only exception is who to partner Sunzu in central defense. We have not seen a central defender who has had the proper chemistry with Sunzu in a very long time.

  7. It will be an interesting match , mainly because its a new coach. The players can deliver…
At CHAN level Namibia have proved difficult in the recent past, but this is a formidable Zed team. Personally I would like to see some improvement in defence . Also Cletous Chama was sensational in the last competition… if he and LK and Patson and Fashion can click, then Namibia and probably every one else ( no disrespect to anyone) are mincemeat.

  8. Leave the job of team selection to the coach and his assistant as he is the one who has been and is still with the players, and further is being paid for that. Say what you want the coach has already made up his mind

  9. As for soccer fans in Zambia and SA, instead lineups apa, muli close uko, why not organise ka bus trip to Namibia and go and give support to the boys. You are many ma Zedians uko ku SA naimwe and today is just the 7th of September 2018, meaning you just got paid lol no excuse bane hahahahahaha (joke)
