Charity shield successfully launched, Atlas Mara to sponsor again…Proceeds to go to St Lawrence

The Football Association of Zambia on Thursday morning held a breakfast launch for the Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity shield set for this Saturday.

FAZ President, Andrew Kamanga thanked the sponsors of this year’s edition Atlas Mara for their continued support having sponsored even the 2020 edition.

Kamanga believes the game that will pit the league champions, ZESCO United, and the ABSA Cup Champions, Lusaka Dynamos will be a fiercely contested match.

“I am indeed very happy to be with you today to the Charity Shield breakfast launch which marks the beginning of our 2021/2022 domestic football campaign.

Since its inception, the Charity Shield has always provided fans and stakeholders the necessary break from the football drought and this year’s season-opening Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Memorial Charity Shield match will see ZESCO United taking on Lusaka Dynamos at Woodlands Stadium on Saturday.

Interestingly, the two sides met in the 2021 ABSA Cup and both will be looking to start the season on a high and we, therefore, anticipate a fiercely contested encounter.

As FAZ, we wish to thank Atlas Mara for taking a giant leap as sponsors of this year’s traditional Charity Shield, having sponsored the 2020 edition.

Through Atlas Mara’s continued partnership with the Football Association of Zambia, the teams have been allowed to compete against each other and gauge their levels of preparedness ahead of the 2021/2022 football season which kicks off on 11 September.”

Meanwhile, Atlas Mara managing director James Koni said it was an honor for the company to partner with the Football Association of Zambia and sponsor the Charity shield.

“it’s a great pleasure to once again partner with the Football Association of Zambia to sponsor the prestigious Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndholovu Charity Shield for the third year running which also doubles as the traditional season-opening match.

As Atlas Mara Bank, we recognize the power of Football as Zambia’s national sport, which brings citizens from all walks of life together. Quite simply, it is everything from a passion and a hobby to an obsession and a profession. We all love it!

Our association with the beautiful game and the Football Association of Zambia dates back over thirty years when our predecessor bank Finance Bank Zambia sponsored the Zambia Super Division in the 1990s. Over the years our organization has continued to sponsor football namely as BancABC where we sponsored Green Buffaloes Football Club to their maiden Barclays Cup trophy. Recently we have been sponsoring 2020/21 Super Division Champions Zesco United Football Club one of the most successful football clubs in Zambia’s history.”

Koni went on to ask the general public to use the Atlas Mara Tenga Platform to donate to the cause with money donated set to go to St Lawrence Home of Hope.

“Therefore, we will be inviting the general public to make financial contributions to support St Lawrence Home of Hope, no matter how small, by sending money through the ‘Tenga Mobile Money solution’.

I would like to urge you to get on your mobile phones use Tenga Mobile Money by dialing *202# and contribute to this important cause.
