Six hours after Chipolopolo coach Beston Chambeshi recalled Kelvin Kapumbu, the Zanaco midfielder went on to feature for his club.
Kapumbu played for 88 minutes until he was sent off, barely 25 hours before Zambia’s crunch encounter against Equatorial Guinea at National Heroes Stadium.
The combative midfielder was recalled as replacement for suspended Dickson Chapa.
The big talking point is whether Chambeshi can hand Kapumbu a starting berth, a day after featuring for Zanaco.
While the Chipolopolo bench were sweating and cursing Zanaco coach Kelvin Kaindu for starting Kapumbu, it wasn’t the case in Ndola were suspended midfielder Prince Mumba featured for his boyhood club Kabwe Warriors against Indeni.
Without Chapa and Mumba, Chambeshi is set to handle his former under-20 protege, Emmanuel Banda starting berth.
Had Kapumbu not featured for on Saturday, then it would have been him and Banda, with the latter in the more advanced midfield role.
The other option is Banda in the holding role with either Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba or Rally Bwalya alongside him.
Clatous Chota Chama will complete the midfield triumvrate.
