Chambeshi asks for an improved performance from his players

AFTER a frustrating draw against Kabwe Warriors on the opening day, Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi has called on the players to turn the heat on Buildcon at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium this afternoon.

Kalampa will be engaged in a lunchtime kick-off against Team Kopala in a Week Two encounter as both teams look to put behind a poor start to the season.

Nkana were held to a scoreless draw against Warriors at home on Sunday while Buildcon are coming from a 1-0 defeat to promoted Nchanga Rangers.

Both teams are desperate for maximum points.  For Nkana, Chambeshi wants a better response from the Warriors game while for Buildcon, their new coach Nchimunya Mweetwa wants to get off with a win.

Chambeshi said at his pre-match briefing at Nkana Stadium on Friday that the players have been putting in their best in training in the past week.

“The boys have been working hard,” Quicksilver said, “We are looking forward to the game. It is the second game of the season. We have to start picking points. This is a marathon. The earlier you start picking points the better,”

There are no secrets to Nkana’s ambition to win the title. For Chambeshi, this is the reason the team should start retaining maximum points while it is still in the campaign.

“Nkana is a championship team, we always fight to win the league. As of now, it is open and we are assured of winning the league so we are competing.

“We are preparing very well, the focus is not on Buildcon only but we are preparing for the whole season. We will fight to be on top and see to it that we represent the country,” Chambeshi said.

Defender Derrick Mukombozi said the players are ready for the game.

“We have worked hard this week, Buildcon is not an easy team. In fact, all games a tough, since I joined Nkana I have never played an easy game, even if it’s a friendly game, every game at Nkana is tough,” he said.

Nkana have dominated this fixture in the last five matches between the two teams winning four matches against Buildcon’s one.
