ZESCO United v Red Arrows headlines week 2 fixtures

The Zambia Super League will enter week 2 of action this afternoon with eight games taking place around the country.

The Levy Mwanawasa Stadium will host a double header as Buildcon welcome record 13 time Champions, Nkana while ZESCO United entertain defending Champions, Red Arrows.

Zambia Police sponsored High Flying Nkwazi make a short trip to the National Heroes Stadium to face NAPSA Stars in a Lusaka derby.

In the early kick off at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Nkana will be looking for their first win of the new campaign when they take on Buildcon.

Team Kopala stuffered a 1-0 loss away to Nchanga Rangers on match day one and will be looking to get their campaign off the ground against Kalampa.

Nkana have dominated this fixture losing only once in 12 previous meetings and winning six including the last three.

The Champions were held to a goalless draw last weekend and they will be looking to get their first win but they face a tricky ZESCO United side that is also searching for a first win.

The game of the weekend for many fans and it is expected to provide sparks  as Numba banks on his strikeforce to take their chances.

“These are easy games especially when you are playing another big team. I think it is easy for players because they are naturally motivated knowing that the game won’t be easy.

“These are matches that are won when teams take their chances. For us we are looking at Arrows with fresh wounds following last season’s loses. We have a chance to put some smiles on the faces of our home supporters,” Numba said.

Ricky Banda is expected to lead the Arrows attack while Alfred Leku leads ZESCO United’s hunt for a first win.

Green Buffaloes after collecting an important point away in Mazabuka welcome Chambishi at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

Golden Mashata scored the equalizer at the Nakambala Stadium and will be expected to again lead the attack alongside Robin Siame and Paul Simpemba.

Chambishi on the other hand started their campaign with a loss to Zanaco and will be hoping to get their first win of the 2022/2023 Super League season.

George Lwandamina’s Kabwe Warriors welcome Forest Rangers in another exciting clash of the weekend.

Lwandamina will be without defender Dominic Chanda who was redcarded in their draw away at Nkana Stadium.

Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba and Jimmy Ndhlovu are expected to lead the Magnificent People’s team attack while 2007 CAF young player of the year is likely to be the main man for Fole Malembe.

Green Eagles will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after succumbing to a shocking 3-1 loss away in Lumwana.

They host FC MUZA at the Independence Stadium in Choma. Andrew Phiri has been in fine form for the Lameck Banda coached side and will be the player to watch again.

Kansanshi Dynamos welcome Prison Leopards while Sensational Zanaco will entertain Nchanga Rangers as Nkwazi and NAPSA Stars face off in at Heroes Stadium.

Chisamba Lungu could make his debut for the Dennis Makinka tutored outfit.
