Chamanga named Club Vice Captain

Zambia’s 2012 African Cup of Nations winning striker James Chamanga has been named as Lioaning Whowing Vice Captain for the the 2016 season.

Chamanga, who played for National Assembly in Zambia before he trekked to South Africa where he had spells at Supersport United and Moroka Swallows captained his side on Friday in the 3-2 defeat in the absence of the captain.

Playing in his 8th season in China, the 36 year old scored in the tie.

Elsewhere in China, Jacob Mulenga provided the assist to help Shijiazhuang to a 1-0 win over Hangzhou on Sunday.

In Israel, Emmanuel Mbola and Evans Kangwa played in Hapoel Ranaana’s goalless draw with Beer Sheva.

Stopilla Sunzu was unused substitute in Lille’s 2-1 away win over Bastia in the French Ligue 1.

Chisamba Lungu is still out and missed Ural’s 4-2 win on Saturday. Lubambo Musonda will be in action on Wednesday while Rodger Kola is also still out but he is making steady recovery.

In Sunday’s CAF Champions League, Emmanuel Mayuka started as Zamalek picked up a vital 1-0 win in Cameroon against Union Doula.

Kabaso Chongo started for TP Mazembe in the 2-2 away draw with Ethiopia’s St George in the first leg. Nathan Sinkala and Given Singuluma started on the bench. Rainford Kalaba has served his final match and will be in contention for the return leg this weekend in Lubumbashi.

  1. Kamanga’s longevity is amazing! Still remember him when he joined the PSL so long ago; here he is…10-11 years later he is still scoring goals. Well done…Hope he is also making hay while the sun is still shining.

  2. Chamanga’s longevity is amazing. Young players should take a leaf from him. No alcohol and refused to lie about his age. His success has been due to shear hard work and his also A God fearing person. Good for you man!

  3. It is also good to note that Nkausu played a full game for his new club freestate stars over the weekend and they won taking them into the top 8. They still conceded a goal which seems to be their achilles heel this season, they just can’t seem to manage a clean sheet. But anyway its good he is getting game time and the club may see some cup football next season if they continue racking up points.
