Cape Verde to field weakened team

As earlier reported, Cape Verde national team coach has confirmed that he will field a weakened but competitive squad in today’s Equatorial Guinea 2015 Group F Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zambia.

The Blue Sharks coach reiterated this when his team arrived in the country yesterday.

The Islanders who have already qualified as group leaders will have to battle with the stress of a long flight and the coach is looking at preserving some of his players who played in the win at home against Niger and hardly got any rest.

However, Honour Janza will be looking to build on his record since taking over the Chipolopolo job which has seen him preside over seven games with three wins and one loss suffered at the hands of Cape Verde.

The game kicks off at 18:00hrs and will be played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

  1. A FOOTBALL PRAYER FROM KASAMA BOY:
Lord God our father, I thank you for helping us keep this Zambian football blog quite.
Yes we do send our players to India, China, Congo DR, and Sasafrica, but they are the ones who win us the AFCON trophy. Egypt uses players from its own league, and they are the ones who won them the AFCON on 3 consecutive times.
Lord those who send their players all over Europe and have their top striker in Oman don’t win anything in a life time. Let them continue sending them there.
I pray to you, my loving God that we keep sending our players to India, China, Congo DR, and Sasafrica, so they continue wining us AFCON trophies.

Please God just as you have blessed our country with peace for the past 50 years, let there be peace on our Zamfoot Blog, and this can only be maintained if you allow Togo to win. I pray for peace on this blog for the next 2 years, in Jesus’ name, Amen!!!!!!!!!!

    • And lord please remind captain weenie not to sneak into his girlfriends hotel room.
Don’t let us win Afcon ever again cos we fail to appreciate the white man who guided the team.
We gave praise and honor and credit to ghosts in the seas rather than you
      Ooo my country Zambia
Wake up from thy slumber for we still languish at the bottom of FIFA rankings despite our lame claims of being a powerhouse
Please we are afraid of ghana but let them qualify so that the tournament attract more scouts to EG to help Zambian players travel to Europe
Even wanyama of Kenya, aubameyeng of Gabon, plays in Europe
      Oh lord why
      Oh lord we beg
Our only euro based players mulenga, mayuka, sinkala, sunzu are struggling
      Why us lord,why Zambia
      We are a laughing stock
West Africa keeps soaring in sports but not southern
      This is our prayer lord
That kalusha stop consulting nyantakyi as to how he managed to qualify ghana to three consecutive WC
      Please answer our prayers
      Ameeeeeeeeeeen!!!!!!!

  2. This will be a game mind, Cape verde kn very well that Chipolopolo will beat them, Zambia should take this game very serious and throw everything on Cape Verdes, its time to revenge the 2-1 defeat in Perie . Beating Cape Verde will improve Zambia Fifa rankings tonight.

  3. This will be a game mind, Cape verde kn very well that Chipolopolo will beat them, Zambia should take this game very serious and throw everything on Cape Verdes, its time to revenge the 2-1 defeat in Perie . Beating Cape Verde will improve Zambia Fifa rankings tonight.Gud lucky

  4. This will be a game mind, Cape verde kn very well that Chipolopolo will beat them, Zambia should take this game very serious and throw everything on Cape Verdes, its time to revenge the 2-1 defeat in Perie . Beating Cape Verde will improve Zambia Fifa rankings tonight.Gud lucky Zambia

  5. Typical cheap psychological football warfare. Chipolopolo don’t underrate anyone, who walks on the field.
There is nothing like fielding a weakened side, because everything you do goes into the annals of history. Cape verde is fielding a senior national team, not an under 17; under 20; or even under 23.

When we went there we fielded a tired team, jet lagged from arriving in the morning of the game. Do we sing about it? We accepted the loss and moved on. It is already recorded that Zambia was beaten.

So even today, we will only accept that it was a weak team if we beat them 11-0 or more anything less twakana just come for battle.

We don’t care who is playing ifwe ni jugular vein fye na ka useless FIFA ranking chapwa. So ba Kepu vedi limbeni fye bane Exam naifika, yafikilatu. Mwalikwata kale a good and rich CA.

  6. That is irrelevant information to us Zambians. We want our team to beat whichever team is put in front of them. On another note i hope the coach has corrected the defensive frailties we saw against Moz. Munthali will get us butchered at Afcon 2015 if he plays in any games. He reminds me of Kennedy Nketani in Afcon 2008. The guy is too slow, low confidence and too tactically deficient. Janza please replace him asap and also never ever play donashano in Nkausu’s position again. Let players play in their proper positions – Nkausu should play in his position (right back). Donashano should only be considered for Sinkala’s position (defensive midfield) if you feel Sinkala wont perform. This thing of playing players in wrong positions backfired numerous times with Renard. We should have learnt our lesson by now.

  7. An opportunity for Chipolopolo Boys to annihilate this over hyped CV team.
On another good note, FAZ might bring back the much liked Chipolopolo 2012 Afcon winning jersey. #BringBackOurVictoryKit

  8. They are at liberty to use the so called “weakened but competitive” side but let us feature the strongest side possible so that we maximise on the FIFA rankings and also kick start our preparation for Equatorial Guinea on a winning note.

  9. Please whoop their asses we don’t care whether they are weak or not that is their fucking problem. we only care about winning and ba Janza us we want a strong team to be a dress rehearsal for the Afcon tournament so that we can have the right combinations. it’s high time we knew who play’s in which position, we don’t want to start seeing experiments at the finals come january.

  10. the arrogant ghana men have dissapeared after being hammered in namboole uganda i warned them they would not survive. Uganda is a better team than Ghana.

    • Don’t you ever get tired of spelling G H A N A in your submissions?
      Haba
Until you vanish from our GSN,we’ll forever be here
With our sharp tongues,we’ll mock and mock you wannabes
      All knowing,technically gifted,infrared lenses,arm chair coach john
Get a life and stopping hating.

  11. Lets use a strong one with no experiments and massacer Cape Verd. This will send a strong warning message to west africans that we will be in Eq Guinea for a trophy.

    • How dare you insult our Abedi Pele
His achievements for Africa surpasses Chipolopolo
If you can’t insult kalusha, just respect our Abedi
      Poor thing
Come to GSN and talk facts and not thrash
      Mtcheeeew

  12. Sate sate and Evans Kangwa should be given more game time to gain experience at that level. We shall rely on these two boys for goals at the AFCON

  13. Of course, both teams have qualified but we need to improve on FIFA rankings. This is not a friendly game outside FIFA sanctioned dates. It’s still a competitive game because the qualifiers end today. Cabo Verde can not travel all the way just to honour the fixture. Pride is at stake here. Tell me which team needs to be walloped by a cricket scoreline? These are just mind games. So let’s take the game seriously and hammer them hard.

  14. We should be careful with cape verde they play a high pressing game were we so chipolopolo lost most of the balls in their own half and they(cv) are displined tactically.A win against Mambas should not stop fans from pressuring the players and technical bench.Pressure makes our team to win without pressure they have dispointed us.“Zambians easily forget”,said L.p Mwanawasa.Over praising the players and coaches yet forget the critics that you made that made Janza win you the match. What am saying is Chipolopolo needs a wipe on their back to win you matches.

  15. this is the reason seto is insulting mumbi for.
Since Dede has a scrotum injury , his papa
Abedi Pele can be a good replacement for his
son in the starting line – up. For the ritual
master, Asamoah Gyan , u can replace him 4
his uncle Bonsam but deploy Kwaku Bonsam
in defensive midfield and push Jordan Ayew
    up front .
Introduce Peggy Appiah and Rebecca Boateng
in the 2nd to boost your defence . Those are
the required changes you need if you have to
pick a point against Togo .

  16. Who ever thought Nigeria,Cameroon,IVC could ever be on the verge of missing a tournament
Recently from a much bigger mundial like the WC in Brazil, one would have thought an automatic qualification for the five African reps to the Afcon
    But here they are struggling?
Could it be a paradigm shift in power?
Countries like Cape Verde,Uganda,Mozambique, are really staking their claim to fame whilst Zambia,Algeria and SA can only wish the big five will miss the bus
We can only wait till 7pm.

  17. Nivake coach uyo natunzelu twa chabe chabe. Mind games for what. And even you ba Zamfoot in your reporting you seem to have fallen for the trick instead of pouring scorn on the remarks. In the event they were to win do you know what would be coming out of that same coach?

  18. Hahahahaha…. See a stupid comment up there. So becos Nigeria, ghana and ivory coast are struggling all those yeye teams you mention are better.
The way you zambians reason some times sef. Funniest thing is that the 3 teams will surely qualify and will be the main contenders. Stupid comments measuring the best teams in africa with Uganda, Mozambique, zambia, togo. Please who on earth Reason like that? Apart from zambians

  19. Ghana are supposed to be only on 4 points and out of contention! Without the ghost penalty, Ghana have lost back to back to Uganda!

  20. Cape Verde have attacking shape, Zambia doesnt. They as a team have a better shape. Players like C Katongo, F Katongo, Chansa can still contribute way more than the likes of Bruce Musakanya!

  21. Donashano Malama is not national team material. I now believe it. This guy should be substituted. Musakanya is also struggling. We need Nkausu at right back and Lubambo at attacking right wing.

  22. This Janza has again included bruce, munthali and malama in the team. He has left out lubambo who did very well when he came in last wk. I feel this chap has started receiving kick backs. Very useless indeed.

  23. Patrice and Janza are unemployable as head coaches outside Zambia but Kalushas greed makes sense of their obvious lack of experience! Kalusha’s greed is destroying Zambia’s football, the likes of Patrick Phiri can do a much better job than the last two so called coaches!

  24. Like I have always said, get a young hungry talented coach frm Barcelona FC, schooled in the Barcelona way and you will see results!

  25. The way we are playing; we have a lot of work to do, both to the team and technical bench. Why do some of our players seemingly easily go down and do not play to the whistle? Cape Verde are good.

  26. Final Result: Zambia 1- 0 Cape Verde. Though we have won, I am not very impressed with the defence, and to some extent midfield. Donashano Malama and Munthali should not be starting the games. Lubambo Musonda should also be starting against Musakanya. Honour Janza should also be able to read the game and come up with tactics. Mayuka missed an opportunity which could have wrapped up the game when he rounded of a CV defender and only needed a tap to score but ballooned the ball over the bar. Anyway we won 1-0, as a win is a win. Good game though.
