CAF CC – Group Stage: Pyramids FC 3 – 0 Nkana (Mahmoud Wadi 2′, Islam Issa 9′, Mohamed Farouk 90’+1)
Zambia’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Nkana Fc were on Wednesday evening thumped 3 – 0 by Pyramids of Egypt in the opening round of the tournament’s group stage.
The Zambian champions looked shell shocked and were two goals down in the first 10 minutes conceding in the second and ninth minute to goals by Islam Issa and Mahmoud Wadi respectively.
Nkana made it easy for the hosts as they did not put pressure on the ball and were always chasing shadows especially with the deep runners. The score could have been worse but for the brilliance of Moses Mapulanga in goal who kept out four clear one on one chances and twice saw the ball canon off the woodwork.
Nkana’s best chance of the game fell to Simon Mulenga in the second half when he ran on to a through ball to shoot beyond the goalkeeper but he was unfortunate to see his effort come off the upright in the 53rd minute.
Pyramids sealed their win in the first minute of injury time when Zimbabwean Gilroy Chimwemwe was taken to the cleaners in the box by Mohamed Farouk who struck his effort with venom leaving Mapulanga with no chance.
Nkana return home to play Raja Casablanca of Morocco next week on Wednesday.

If this noisy team called nkana won’t improve, they will be the wiping boys of the group…
Nkana need to improve rapid in their second match. A win against Raja will bring confidence in their team.
Pyramid is a good team, and nkana went there and played an open game like a division 2 team. Nkana still a long way to go. Teams in Zambia should also stop this idea of recycling coaches, they should learn to look even in the PSL. Some coaches there like Tinkler are out of work and may need a new challenge elsewhere.
Why do our teams lose disastrously against North African teams ?
