Blatter re-elected FIFA president for 5th term

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has secured a fifth term in charge.

The 79-year-old defeated his rival, the Jordanian Prince Ali Bin al-Hussein.

Blatter polled 133 votes to Prince Ali’s 73, which would have been enough to take the contest to a potential second round but his 39-year-old challenger withdrew.

“For the next four years I will be in command of this boat called Fifa and we will bring it back ashore, we will bring it back to the beach,” he said, again promising to make this four year term his last. “The age is no problem. You have people that are 50 who look old.”

51 out of the 54 African countries voted for Blatter.

  1. well done Africa, we are not stooges of the Western world. Gone are the days when we danced to their whims & desires we now decide our own fate & don’t get entangled in other peoples funny battles. let them arrest Blatter Himself then it will disqualify him otherwise their is no story!!

    • @Marto how is this a win for Africa when the so called leaders are the ones benefiting through their corrupt practices? Is it the peanuts given to every association in the name of development projects making you think this is good for the game? My issue is not the FBI poking its nose into the FIFA affairs, but the corrupt exposed but both CAF and FIFA leaders. Corruption stinks for those watching, but its bacon for those receiving the “benefits”. How many times has Zambia been screwed by Fifa and Caf? Remember the last qualifying in Morocco 1994..Diramba? That rings any bells? This shit has been happening for long and seriously its getting odd. Any sane people/leader would have called for a replay of that game. I know it was João’s presidency then, but c’mon man. These phucks have been sh!tting on us all for a long time. How about Togo being banned after their players got ambushed in Angola 2010? The dubious means at which Russia(whom are trying to flex their muscle for political reasons), Qatar? innocent laborers/modern day slaves dying left and right and no one is held responsible, while FIFA and its corrupt punks cashing in.

      • when you read through your post all i see are politics nothing to do with the advancement of the game. Can anyone honestly say, Blatter has not put the advancement of the beautiful game especially in less than developed nations as a priority? The answer is an emphatic no, that’s why the man is popular in Asia & Africa. The truth is the west want a puppet & not a strong character who will not give them an inch. Are there corrupt people in FIFA. Yes they are & the law must take its course on them but don’t demonize Blatter for the actions of some rotten tomatoes because by that same rationale non of them pointing fingers deserve to stand on those same pedestals from which they stand because am sure at one point or the other they have been above fraudulent or even corrupt subordinates!!

  2. The integrity of the game is lost. Eufa and some Asian countries will boycott the work cup. Sponsors will pull out of FIFA, all these clowns will be exposed, watch. I will not feel sorry for arrogant corrupt Kalu when all the walls come crumbling, it will remind this clown and Issa that they are not an island. The FBI is compiling and profile through banks and punks all coming down, its just a matter of time.

    • This whole brouhaha began when England lost the 2018 world cup bid. The level of self importance & relevance of the arrogant English & their allies is mind boggling to say the least. Uefa wont go anywhere they need the rest of the world more than the footballing world needs them.
Yes there are corrupt people in Fifa like any organization & where they are found may the law deal with them but to demonize a man who has given Himself to further the sport in developing countries is neither here nor there.
Well done Africa & Asia for standing up for Football & whats right.

      • Well maybe its safe to say that the 2018 bid brought to light a lot of irregularities within FIFA and not pin this solely of English egos. Russia bribed a lot of those officials that have been indicted so far. Stay tuned my brother you will see, this is not just smoke without fire. As for Qatar, we don’t even have to do any research at all on how the won the bid, as the anointed one received $80,000 – $100,000 from one of those rich arab dudes. Now tell us how all this is ok? This is all about corruption and it’s alarming that one would standing up this. I am sorry to spill this for you, but Blatter will not last.

        • my point precisely, cage the corrupt elements within FIFA but don’t use it to whip an innocent & dedicated man over a few corrupt elements. As for Blatter lasting, i for one believe & hope He will but as they say every dog has its day so its possible they might win at some point.

    • Yes we are but what i refuse to be is a western stooge who cant even analyse matters critically but jump on the Western band wagon. Are there corrupt people in FIFA? Yes they are just like in any organization. Naked truth, refuse to be dictated to in your thoughts or decisions by anyone but rather be your own man!! is it any wonder that only the former colonialists don’t want Blatter with two thirds of the membership standing by the man?

      • @marto b I share your sentiments on guarding against being puppets to western egos. And I’m glad you do realise there re corrupt elements within FIFA. My only fear is that under Blatter, the intergrity of FIFA and that of football have become so compromised that we needed a new broom to mount serious rebranding. The fact that Blatter says “I cannot monitor everyone in FIFA” raises serious doubts as to the organisational set up of FIFA. The guy has helped many 3rd world countries with grants and structures to develop the game yes, but that can’t be an excuse to condone glaring corrupt activities happening under his watch.

      • Congratulations @Marto B. That is the way to go. I have always said, if people calling Kalu corrupt have a spine, why not bring the evidence to the relevant authorities? All we hear is Kalu is corrupt, Blatter bwabwabwa! Why was he not among those arrested? If one is being investigated it does not mean they are guilty.

When the PHD specialists who have no basis other than a person has overstayed according to them, bring an issue before the law, the law will investigate to ascertain whether it is true or its just a baseless malicious claim.

The problem we have is very few people apply their minds to issues. They go with the wind. Show me evidence that Kalu or Blatter are corrupt and i will support their execution.

  3. The fact is the developing nations will always need the Western powers, were are people emigrating to?America,Britain,Germany not the racist Russia which in my oppinion lost to the Western since there is no USSR anymore and they are just with Blatter because they just want to look big against three of the five super powers, let’s see were it will end, watch this space.
