Zambia National team boss Beston Chambeshi has trimmed his squad to 22 players in preparation for next months’ Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 22 locally based Copper Bullets will report for the second phase of preparations for the back-to-back matches.
Chambeshi has dropped Nkana striker Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga and the Athletico Lusaka trio of Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda, Julius Kumwenda, and Francis ‘Bubu’ Mutalange.
Others who have been dropped are Buildcon defender Isaac Shamujompa, Field Kandela, Kebson Kamanga, and Power Dynamos midfielder, Spencer Sautu while his former captain Benson Sakala has been called up after missing the first phase.
The players will report for camp on Saturday while foreign-based players will join preparations in the final phase with Zambia away to Mauritania on September 3 before hosting Tunisia five days later at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The Chipolopolo are in Group B alongside Tunisia, Mauritania, and Equatorial Guinea in the race to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Top teams in each of the 10 groups will qualify to the final round where they will play two-legged ties with five teams representing the African continent at the world cup.

I do not favor, dropping spancer sautu is a bad idea because of late in every sautu is a super sub he changes the game when he goes in. Let Chambeahi look for defenders of Good height. Most time when opponents scores they fail to sustain a goal. Do not just select players but the skill, mental strength and the force to defend. Zambia can qualify We need players who coordinate in all the three departments
I hope he(coach Chambeshi)is picking these players on merit…not vama favours.
