Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda has heaped praise on young players ahead this evening’s 2024 Morocco WAFCON final round second leg qualifier against Angola.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Banda said the young players are doing well and it’s evident from the way they played at the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship.
Banda went on to say the team won’t relax as they still have unfinished business on the pitch this evening to complete their qualification to Morocco.
“Like the coach has said, the team is ready for tomorrow’s game. We are not relaxed as a team, we still have unfinished business,” she said.
“I think the game is very important, we want to seal WAFCON qualification then look at the game against Ghana.”
The Young players in camp are doing well, the young players that played COSAFA did so well that I was even scared of where I would fit in the team. We keep encouraging them,” she added.
Banda has made the cut for teb CAF Awards player of the year in the Women’s category and she feels it’s a testament to the amount of hard work Zambian female football players are putting in.
“To be on the list of CAF Awards nominees, it means we have good talent in Zambia and as players we are working hard,” she said.
Zambia carry a six goals advantage thanks to their huge first leg win away in Luanda last week.
The Copper Queens host Angola this evening at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium with kick off set at 18h00.
Tickets for the match are available at ShopRite Stores Country wide via Computicketing from as low as K30.
