Araina Lambert extends ZANACO stay

MTN Super League giants ZANACO Football Club have secured the future of striker Araina Lambert after the Cameroonian forward penned a new two-year contract extension with the Bankers.

The Lusaka-based side confirmed the development on Tuesday, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a strong squad ahead of upcoming domestic and continental assignments.

In a statement, the club said, “Zanaco Football Club striker, Araina Lambert has today signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the club as it continues to strengthen its squad for upcoming competitions.”

Lambert has been an important figure in ZANACO’s attack since joining two seasons ago, scoring 13 goals and establishing himself as one of the club’s reliable goal threats.

The Bankers noted that the new deal reflects their belief in the forward’s impact, stating that the extension “reflects the club’s confidence in the Cameroonian’s abilities and his importance to the team’s attacking force.”

Since his arrival, Lambert has impressed with his work rate and consistency, attributes that have earned him the backing of both the technical bench and club management.

ZANACO Chief Executive Officer Owen Chimpinde also weighed in on the extension, expressing confidence that the striker will continue to play a key role in the club’s ambitions, particularly on the continental stage.

“He has shown great commitment, and we expect him to continue working hard. His contribution is key to our ambitions, especially as we aim to compete strongly in CAF competitions,” Chimpinde said.

The club emphasized that the move forms part of a broader strategy to assemble a competitive squad capable of challenging for honours at home while making a strong impression in Africa.

ZANACO added that Lambert is expected to take on an even bigger role as the team targets a return to domestic dominance and qualification for continental football, with the CAF stage firmly in sight.
