Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka says playing against World Champions Argentina is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Daka was speaking on arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport ahead of departure for Buenos Aires.
Daka says the team understands the importance of the match to the nation and that it could open many doors for Zambia as a country and not just for the players themselves.
The Leicester City forward was also quick acknowledge that the match will be difficult but says the team will do their level best to compete.
“Yeah, I think it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us, not only for the players, but also for the nation. This is not just an ordinary game. We know how important this game is and how much it’s going to help us to develop as a team, as a nation, as people. We’re just hoping that this opportunity is going to open many doors, not only for us players, but also for the nation at large as well,” he said.
“We know how difficult this game is going to be, but we’re going to do our very best to just do the best that we can to make sure that we don’t regret anything at the end of the game,” he added.
Daka says the Chipolopolo Boys respect Argentina but will do their best in the match and try as much as possible to learn what they can in the process.
“Football is the same everywhere, and we respect them, but we know that we just have to learn. We have to do our best, and that’s the only thing that we can do because at the end of the day, it’s… what you have as a team, as a group, and what you believe in. So I think we believe in ourselves and we know that, like I said earlier, it’s going to be tough, but we can only do our best to make sure that we don’t regret anything,” Daka said.
Chipolopolo will face world champions Argentina in an international friendly on March 31, 2026 at the Iconic La Bombonera Stadium.
