Chipolopolo striker Evans Kangwa on Sunday started life in the Turkey Super Lig when he played in his club Gaziantepspor’s opening match of the season which they lost 2 – 0 away against Gençlerbirliği.
The former Nkana striker completed his move to Turkey from Israel three weeks ago and will be glad to have made the starting XI for his club in a game he played 58 minutes.
The 24 year old striker played on the right side of attack in a three man attack.
Kangwa is on a four year contract at the club after he scored 11 goals for Hapoel Ra’anana last season.
In the French Ligue 1, Stopilla Sunzu made a cameo appearance for his club Lille when they beat visiting Dijon by 1 goal to nil.
Sunzu who started on the bench came on in the referee’s optional time to see out the game.
In Russia, Chisamba Lungu played his fourth game out of four for the 2016/2017 season as he saw his team Ural fall to a 1 – 0 loss against Amkar Perm.
The 25 year old midfielder who is now wearing jersey number 10 played in attack in an advanced roll.
Ural have secured 4 points from four games and are 8th on the log.
In the Portuguese Segunda Liga, Moses Phiri was in action for Academico Viseu when they drew 2 – 2 at home against Varzim.
Phiri came in as a substitute in the 46th minute.
This was the 22 year old’s first game in the three week old league.
In China, high scoring James Chamanga failed to find the back of the net when his team Liaoning Whowin lost 2 – 1 to Shanghai Shenua.
Chamanga played the entire game.
Jacob Mulenga continues to miss in the Shijiazhuang Ever Bright FC team and was not in the team that lost 4 – 1 to Shanghai SIPG.
Shijiazhuang Ever Bright FC continue to struggle as the goals have dried up with the absence of Mulenga and they are now in the relegation zone.
