2022 AWCON Qualifiers: Copper Queen’s jet into Malawi ahead of Wednesday’s clash

The Zambia Women’s national team have arrived in Malawi ahead of Wednesday’s Morocco 2022 Africa Women Cup nations (AWCON) qualifier against the scorchers set for Bingu National stadium.

The team touched down at Kamuzu International Airport at 15:00hours following a one hour and 15 minutes flight from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka

The Copper Queens are camped at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe

The Copper Queens will host the Scorchers on Tuesday next week in the return match set for Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.

The winner between Zambia and Malawi will face either Tanzania or Namibia in the second and final round of the 12th Edition of the AWCON to be staged in Morocco from July 2-23, 2021.

Coach Bruce Mwape has named a strong squad for the trip with Rachel Kundananji and Grace Chanda leading the squad.

U-20 National team skipper Evarine Susan Katongo and Green Buffaloes midfielder Lubasi Pumulo have also made the cut alongside Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and Siomala Mapepa.
