2015 season kicks off with Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield

The 2015 Zambian soccer season kicks off today with the season opening Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield semi-finals to be played in Kitwe.

Champions Zesco United play they team they dethroned last year Nkana FC while runners up Power Dynamos will feel at home at Arthur Davies Stadium when they play Zanaco.

Zesco will go in the match confident as recent history favors them having had the better of the Nkana in the three meetings the two teams had last year in the Barclays Cup and the league. Zesco also looks very strong in all departments and will be the team to beat this season.

However, Beston Chambeshi has lined up a new look team which includes former Napsa Stars goal keeper Scott Ngokene, Josephat Kasusu and Djunase Kanda amongst the notables.

In the early kick-off, Power will look to bounce back from the 1 – 0 loss at the hands of Al Khartoum in the CAF Confederations Cup last week but will have a tricky opponent in Zanaco to negotiate past.

Zanaco when beaten to the continental spot on the last day of the season by Power after the bankers were humiliated by Red Arrows for Power to take advantage.

The game today will coach Numba Mumamba’s first game in-charge of Zanaco and starting with a win will be more than in motivation.
