ZSL round up : Zesco go top, Okutu stings Zanaco as Swallows Shock NAPSA

Defending Champions Zesco United leapfrogged Green Buffaloes to go top of the MTN/FAZ Super League table on Sunday after they beat Kabwe Youth by three goals to one at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Zesco United struck first barely two minutes into the match after Lazarous Kambole’s beautiful run on the right wing and laying the ball off for Jesse Jackson Were who made no mistake to put Zesco in the lead. KYSA were not giving Zesco United any respect on the day as they took the game to them and 15 minutes later it paid off as Isaac Simbuwa equalised with a venomous low shot to beat Jacob Banda at his near post.

In the second half Zesco United took the lead just six minutes this time Jesse Jackson Were turning provider for young Lameck Banda who shot from close range. Zesco then suffered a number of scare moments until Lazarous Kambole sealed the three points with 90th minute strike following a pass from John Ching’andu.

Zesco United move to the summit of the table equal on points with Green Buffaloes but with a less game played and more goals scored.

In an earlier encounter Damiano Kola rescued a point for Forest Rangers after his late strike cancelled out Sebastian Mwansa’s opener as Forest and Nkwazi shared spoils.

On Saturady, At Sunset Stadium it was Emmanuel Okutu who was the difference as his 36th minute strike secured Maximum points for Warriors who move up to third on the log.

The goal was the former NAPSA stars’ strikers seventh of the season just one shot of current league top goalscorer Idris Ilunga Mbombo.

In the early Kick off, New Monze Swallows shocked NAPSA stars to record their first win of the season via a one nil scoreline courtesy of a Joseph Mwandilila goal.

In Kitwe, Ronald Kampamba scored the only goal of the game as twelve time Super League champions Nkana beat rivals Kitwe United to go fourth on the log.

On Friday Power Dynamos needed a late Godfrey Ngwenya strike to rescue a point against impressive Choma Green Eagles.
