ZPL Week 15: Brotherly affair, ZESCO United face Forest as ZANACO welcome Red Arrows

The MTN Super League enters week 15 of action today with some exciting fixtures and the Mutapa brothers showdown is one of the highlights.

Perry Mutapa’s NAPSA Stars visit Oswald Mutapa’s Nkwazi at Edwin Imboela Stadium in what is expected to be a tricky affair.

Oswald Mutapa is already playing it cool about facing his brother saying it’s a fixture like any other and the focus is qualification for ABSA Cup.

Nkwazi have welcomed Stephen Mutama and Isaac Ngoma back in the team ahead of this match.

Emmanuel Lungu has also made the team in camp ahead of the lunch time kick off at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

However Oswald will be without Bradley Mweene, Christopher Chola, Susu Mukabanga, Jeff Banda, Julius Kumwenda, Grorge Ndhlovu and Joseph Mulambwa who are all out injured

For NAPSA Stars, the likes of Austin Banda, Boster Siyoma , Simon Nkhata and Musonda Kapembwa are expected to lead the charge.

Nkwazi are coming off a 1-1 draw away in Mufulira against Wanderers and will be hoping to get maximum points.

Meanwhile NAPSA Stars recorded an important win at home against Prison Leopards.

Simon Nkhata scored the all important goal that gave NAPSA Stars their first win in seven games to end a six match winless run.

The win over Prison Leopards also meant that Lameck Banda also lost his first game as coach of the Correct Boys.

The second match on the day sees FC MUZA visit Green Buffaloes at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

Since Nkwazi ended FC MUZA’s 17 match unbeaten run they are yet to win a game recording two draws and a loss.

The Mazabuka based side will fancy their chances against Green Buffaloes who are also in a slump recording only a single win in their last five games.

A win for FC MUZA could see them move up to second place on the league table.

The last two meetings between them has seen FC MUZA win one and the other ending in a draw.

Nine time MTN Super League Champions, ZESCO United will be looking for their fifth win in a row as they welcome Forest Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Forest Rangers are coming off an important 1-0 win over Power Dynamos and Mwenya Chipepo is eying maximum points again.

“ZESCO United is one of the biggest teams in Zambia; playing away from home is not going to be easy. As Forest Rangers, we are looking for three points,” Mwenya Chipepo said.

“The three points are very important to us because we want to make sure that at least we go into the top six. We want to play the ABSA Cup.”

Fole Malembe currently sit in 10th position on the log standings and they have  scored 15 goals while allowing the same number of goals as of Week 14.

They need to avoid defeat to stand a chance of qualifying for the ABSA Cup.

George Lwandamina on the other hand is expected to look to the likes of Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Abraham Siankombo, Lazarus Kambole and Moise Lola Kanda to lead the charge.

Zega Mambo have won three of their last four meetings with Forest Rangers and will look to make it four wins in five games.

Defending Champions, Power Dynamos will be looking to make a quick return to winning ways when they welcome struggling Trident FC.

After their loss to Forest Rangers, Power Dynamos will be hoping to get back on the winning track.

Trident FC on the other hand are winless this season with only nine draws to their name.

Konkola Blades welcome Mufulira Wanderers while Green Eagles entertain Prison Leopards.

Eagles are ninth placed on the log table with 20 points and will be eying a win.

It being a military derby, Alex Namazaba is anticipating a tough match.

“It’s not an easy game, always service derbies are difficult games, but I am happy with the way the boys have prepared and have done in training these games. We normally play them to impress our boss so we will make sure we try and win it for the boss,” he said.

Lameck Banda will also hope to return to winning ways after losing 1-0 to NAPSA Stars last weekend.

Banda will however have to find a plan for Freddy Michael who seems to be scoring in every game if the Correct Boys have to get anything out of this game.

David Obashi will be expected to lead the attack for Prison Leopards.

Kabwe Warriors will be eying a return to winning ways when they welcome tricky Mutondo Stars at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium.

The action will continue on Sunday with Nkana playing Kansanshi Dynamos away at their own Stadium, Chilata.

The last game of the weekend will see Zanaco and Red Arrows square off at Sunset Stadium.
