The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that Nkana FC forward Nduna Zulu has been banned over a celebration gesture described as the “Zoom” symbol.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 15 October 2026, the league described the reports alleging that Zulu had been banned by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) or the ZPL as misleading, urging the public not to treat them as factual.
The claims began circulating on social media on Thursday morning, with reports suggesting that the Nkana player was facing disciplinary action over the gesture.
However, the ZPL has now moved to quash the speculation, stressing the need for accurate and verified information when reporting on football matters.
“The ZPL wishes to clarify that the claims circulating are misleading and should not be treated as factual,” the league said in a statement issued by its Head of Communications, Christina Zulu.
The league also urged media organisations, bloggers, football stakeholders and members of the public to verify information through credible and official sources before sharing or publishing it.
“The Zambian Premier League remains committed to protecting the integrity of the game,” the statement added, noting that the league was open to engaging with individuals and organisations seeking clarification on football-related matters.
The statement did not announce any disciplinary action against Nduna Zulu.
The clarification comes amid online speculation surrounding the Nkana player, with the league seeking to put the record straight over reports of an alleged ban.
