Zambia Super League side, ZESCO United has parted ways with head coach Numba Mumamba.
The development which comes barely hours after the club’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, was announced in a statement on the clubs official website.
“ZESCO United management and club head coach, Mumamba Numba have mutually agreed to separate with immediate effect.”
ZESCO United Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Charles Kalala has thanked Numba for the services rendered to the club.
“ZESCO United Football Club management would like to thank Mumamba Numba for his services in the last two seasons which resulted in the team winning one league title and qualifying for the 2021/22 CAF Champions League and the 2022/23 CAF Confederations competitions respectively,” Kalala said.
The club has also mutually separated with 1st assistant coach Noel Mwandila.
Kalala says the club will soon be announcing a new full-time head coach to replace Numba Mumamba.
“The club will immediately begin the recruitment process for a new full-time head coach. In the interim, ZESCO United 2nd assistant coach, Alfred Lupiya will act as head coach,” he said.
Numba joined ZESCO United in 2020 after signing a 3-year contract which saw him guide the club to a ninth league title in his first season.
