The much anticipated CAF confederations draws were conducted in Cairo-Egypt this evenning to determine which teams are going to square off in the pre-group stage of the competition.
The Ndola based giants Zesco United have been handed a crucial encounter against South Africa PSL side Kaizer Chiefs. United were dropped to the CAF Confederations after failing to make it to the next round of the CAF champions league.
Looking at chiefs journey so far, The Soweto giants beat Zimamoto of Zanzibar 5-2 in the preliminary round of the competition and later humiliated ASSM Elgeco of Madagascar by winning 3-0 both home and away.
On paper Zesco United has an upper hand with more experience giving them a competitive edge over Chiefs, The first leg is set for levy mwanawasa stadium on the weekend of 11th-13th January 2019, the return leg is slated for 18-20th January at the FNB stadium in South Africa.
Another Zambian premier league side Nkana FC has been handed to host San Pedro of Ivory Coast, the kitwe based outfit are in the similar situation with Zesco united after the two sides were dropped to CAF confederations.
San Pedro will not be an easy side as they had to hold their own to reach this far. They edged Gambia’s Armed Forces in the preliminary round before eliminating Motema Pembe of the DRC.
The first leg for both Nkana and zesco united will be played at home.
