ZESCO United go top, Nkwazi edge Atletico as ZANACO thump Buffaloes

ZESCO United have gone top of the MTN Super League table following a 1-0 win over Green Eagles away in Choma.

Ivorian forward Freddy Michael Koublan returned to haunt the Choma-based outfit with a second-half strike, a goal that would have pleased anyone using a betting calculator to predict the match outcome.

The win takes ZESCO United to 39 points as they leapfrog Kabwe Warriors into first place.

Elsewhere, Nkwazi returned to winning ways after back to back draws as they beat Atletico Lusaka 2-1.

Richard Ocran and Luka Mutoshi scored a goal each for the Zambia Police sponsored outfit while Thomas Chisi netted for the Bad Boys.

At Woodlands Stadium, Wilson Chisala was the main man as he netted a hat-trick to lead ZANACO to a 4-1 win over Green Buffaloes.

Lambert Gueme Araima scored the other goal for ZANACO while Lucky Bwalya scored the Zambia army sponsored outfit’s consolation goal.

The win takes ZANACO out of the relegation zone and up to 14th place with 23 points.
