Lazarus Kambole has extended his stay at ZESCO United following a successful six months loan in Ndola, the club has confirmed.
The former Konkola Mine Police player made an instant impact at ZESCO United scoring three goals in his opening four games.
Kambole who returned to ZESCO United in January has penned a one year loan extension.
Kambole’s parent club is Tanzanian giants Young Africans, a club he joined in June last year.
“ZESCO United have extended Lazarous Kambole’s loan deal to another season after the initial six months agreement with Tanzania giants, Young Africans came to an end.
Kambole who made a sensational return to United last season helped the club secure a top three finish in a campaign which proved agonising for the 2020/21 Zambian league champions.”
Kambole will be expected to help ZESCO United in their quest for the Super League title in the 2023/2024 season.
The nine time league champions begin their quest to win a tenth title on August 19, 2023 with an away fixture against Napsa Stars.
Kambole returned to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in January after 3 and half years away.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder’s career shot to stardom at ZESCO United before securing a move to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in 2019.
Kambole however endured three difficult seasons at Naturena, where he struggled for game time.
Kambole arrived at Chiefs with a high profile after being a top performer in the Zambian Super League for Zega Mambo, having also been their standout player in the Caf Champions League.
Kambole made headlines across the African continent when he scored a hat-trick in five minutes in a Caf Champions League match against Eswatini giants Mbabane Swallows.
Caf later confirmed that Kambole’s hat-trick is the fastest recorded in the history of the continental tournament.
Kambole boasts of 7 goals for the Copper Bullets in 15 appearances.
