Zesco United has returned to the summit of the MTN/FAZ Super League following a 4-1 bashing of Lumwana Radiants while NAPSA Stars were handed a shock 3-1 defeat by Young Green Eagles away in Kafue.
Action from week 20 of the MTN/FAZ Super League action continued this afternoon, with three mouth-watering encounters. Zesco United welcomed Lumwana Radiants, Red Arrows faced off with Prison Leopards while NAPSA Stars visited Young Green Eagles away in Kafue.
Following Zanaco’s win over Zesco United needed a direct win to reclaim the top spot. Team Ya Ziko made a strong start as they went ahead after just seven minutes, Adrian Chama with a long-range effort catching Ngeleka Katembwe off guard, 1-0.
Solomon Sakala doubled Zesco United’s lead just a minute after the second-half restart, heading in a Jesse Jackson Were corner. Second-half substitute Luwawa Kasomo made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute with a brilliant chip while Thabani Kamusoko completed the goals for Zesco United in additional time with Emmanuel Manda pulling one back for Lumwana Radiants in the 71st minute.
The win takes Zesco United back to the summit with 37 points, One above Sensational Zanaco in second place.
At Nkoloma Stadium, James Chamanga scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute from a Mwiza Siwale pass to help Red Arrows to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Prison Leopards.
Goalkeeper Charles Kalumba kept the Collect Boys in the match for most of the time as he made several splendid saves including double saves on two occasions.
Elsewhere in Kafue, Young Green Eagles thrashed NAPSA Stars 3-1 to record only their fourth win of the season
Jack Ngulube, Damiano Kola, and Isaac Ngoma scored the goals for Young Green Eagles while Jimmy Mukeya scored the face-saver for NAPSA Stars.
