ABSA Cup defending Champions, Zesco United has been drawn Kansanshi Dynamos while 2017 Champions, Zanaco Football club will square off with Kabwe Warriors in the quarter-finals of this year’s competition.
This follows draws held this morning at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka. National Division One log leaders, Konkola Blades will face off with Forest Rangers while Prison Leopards and Lusaka Dynamos will lock horns for a place in the semifinals.
The tournament which is making a return to the annual football calendar after last year’s edition was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic sees some few improvements on individual awards.
The winners will walk away with K600 000 which was supposed to be the prize money for last year, a 20% increment from the K500 000 Zesco United pocketed in 2019 the last time the tournament was held. The runners-up will walk away with K250 000.
The player of the tournament and coach of the tournament will pocket K25, 000 each with the man of the match walking away with K15, 000.
ABSA Bank Zambia will also give each participating team K20, 000 to help them prepare for the tournament.
The quarterfinals will be held on March 13-14 at Woodlands Stadium while the semifinals will be staged on April 17-18 at Arthur Davies Stadium.
FAZ and ABSA have set the final for the weekend of April 24-25 at a venue to be advised.
