Indeni Roses and ZESCO Ndola Girls this afternoon shared spoils in the much anticipated Ndola Derby that was played at Trade Fair Grounds.
Going into this match both sides had very high expectations and the game lived up to the tag.
Roses enterprising winger Esther Mushota who is actually a former ZESCO player came back to haunt her former team by scoring the first goal of the match to put Indeni in the lead and that was the only difference going to the break.
After the break, Zegalicious game-changer Happy Pinto equalized for Zega Mambo Ladies benefiting from a mistake by Roses goalkeeper Natasha Chanda to make it 1-1, and the game opened up once again.
However, after all, was done and dusted the two sides shared 1-1 spoils once again in this high-intensity Ndola Derby.
This was the 15th meeting between Indeni and ZESCO, Zega Mambo Ladies have won 5 times compared to 3 for Roses with the rest of the games including today’s match ending in draws.
ZESCO’s next assignment is a stern test at home against Red-Hot Red Arrows while Indeni will travel across town at Shinde Stadium to face Mufulira Wanderers in a Copperbelt Derby.
Elsewhere in Kabwe, the National Assembly recorded their second win of the season after a hard-fought 1-nil victory over Queens Academy in a match played at Jasmine Grounds.
The Parliamentarians scored the only goal of the match in the dying minutes of the game through speedy winger Musonda Chimfwembe and that was enough to seal a long-awaited victory for Coach Thomas Nyirenda drilled lasses who have now subdued Queens on the log standing.
Assembly’s next game is a tricky home tie against Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) Queens while Queens will travel to Lusaka to lock horns with Nkwazi Queens at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
