Zesco land in Eswatini ahead of Green Mamba clash

Zambia’s envoys in the CAF Championship League Zesco United have landed in Manzini eSwatini aboard a chartered plane. The team arrived at 80:50 Hours.

The 22 man Zesco United Football Club squad landed in Manzini eSwatini this morning. The six players that were caught in the Visa mix up joined the rest of the squad last evening in South Africa.

The player is the Kenyan duo of striker Jesse Were and David Owino, DR Congo defender Marcel Kalonda, Uganda striker Umaru Kasumba, Nigerian midfielder Quadri Kola and Burundi goalkeeper Dieudonne Ntibahezwa.

Zesco United Head Coach GOERGE LWANDAMINA has challenged his lads to go for a convincing outright win tomorrow to render the reverse fixture a formality.

In an interview with the Zesco United Media team, at King Mswati, the Third International Airport this morning, Lwandamina said players know what is at stake and he is confident they will not disappoint.

The joining of the six players to his traveling squad has elated Lwandamina and will give him many options going into this weekend’s encounter against Green Mambas Football Club.

Zega Mambo has registered the majority of players who were featuring for the club in the last season’s CAF Confederation Cup. On Wednesday, they played South African Premier Soccer League side Highlands Park in a practice match that ended 1-1 as part of their preparations. John Ching’andu scored the only goal for Zesco United.

FAZ deputy General Secretary JOSEPH CHIPAMPWE is the delegation leader and reminded the club that the Association expects Zesco United not to disappoint in tomorrow’s encounter.

The 2018 Zambian Super League champions will on Saturday play Green Mamba in the CAF champions league first leg preliminary round at Mavuso Sports Complex.

Last season Zesco United failed to make the CAF Champions League group stages after failing to negotiate their way past TP Mazembe but made the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup. They Ndola giants failed to make it out of the group stages and finished below Al Hilal, Nkana and Asante Kotoko.
