The Zambia Women’s National team has stormed this year’s COSAFA Womens Cup Final following their 4-0 Win over Bostwana at the Wolfson Stadium in South Africa on Thursday.
Head Coach Beauty Mwamba has described the first ever qualification to the final as an achievement not only for the team but Zambia at large.
“This is a very big moment for Zambia not Everyone believed in the team that we brought others felt we left good players behind With players like Misozi,Barbra and Racheal missing in the Squad but as a technical Bench we believed in the players and kept pushing so that we reached the final,” she said.
Mwamba came to the defence of striker Rachel Nachula who missed a poorly taken penalty against Botswana in the final group B encounter. Mwamba believes its normal and people should not be so hard on her.
“Anyone can miss a penalty people should not be hard when someone makes a mistake, when she scored eight goals everyone was happy, any player can miss a penalty we told her to continue pushing and we are still depending on her as we go to the finals,” she explained
This is the first time that the Copper Queens have qualified to the COSAFA finals since 2002 and will take on the defending Champions South Africa on the 11th of August 2019.
