Zesco go six points clear, Napsa out of relegation zone

Zesco United have gone six points clear on top of the MTN FAZ Super League table after they beat Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy 2 – 1 away from home.

Zesco were done a favor by second and third placed Green Buffaloes and Nkana who both drew their matches.

Third from bottom KYSA started well and went ahead in the 42nd minute through Sililo but the Champions rallied back with in-form Enock Sabakuma equalizing in the 47th minute to make it three goals in two games before Maybin Kalengo wrapped up the three points with the winner in the 57th minute.

Zesco are now on 70 points while KYSA remain in the relegation zone on 25 points.

Second placed Green Buffaloes continued their poor run that has seen them not win in their last three games when they were held to a 1 – 1 draw at home by Lumwana Radiants. Obed Masumbuko and Friday Samu scored Lumwanana and Radiants respectively. The Army sponsored side now have 64 points while Lumwana have now been dragged into the relegation zone on 31 points.

Nkana’s four match unbeaten run was brought to a halt by less fancied Kitwe United in the Kitwe derby when the two team played to a goalless stalemate.

But the biggest winners of week 32 were Napsa Stars who picked Maximum points against New Monze Swallows to leap out of the relegation zone for the first time this season. With National Assembly and Lumwana Radiants both failing to win, Napsa took full advantage to leap frog the two teams a point and one team clear of the relegation zone.

This was Napsa’s third win in a roll with goals coming from Bernard Mapili and Bornwell Mwape scoring.

Green Eagles continued to march on towards a top four finish when they beat visiting Power Dynamos 1 – 0 in Choma thanks to a Tapson Kaseba lone goal.

Eagles are fourth on the log with 61 points while Power Dynamos are 7th on 49 points.

Kabwe Warriors who started the season looking like they would be fighting for a top four position suffered another setback when they conceded in the 90th minute to lose 1 – 0 to Zanaco. Charles Zulu scored the goal which keeps Zanaco’s hopes for a top four finish alive. Zanaco are in 5th position on 56 points while Warriors drop into 9th position on 48 points.

Josephat Kasusu netted for Red Arrows in their 1 – 0 home win over Buildcon. There was also a 2 – 0 win for Lusaka Dynamos over Nchanga Rangers with goals from Emmanuel Habasimbi and Marvin Jere.
