Zanaco, Zesco draw; Walter nets a hat-trick

The much anticipated week 29 fixture between Zanaco and Zesco ended in a disappointing 0 – 0 draw, a result which favors log leaders Zanaco who have played more games than the champions.

The two teams went in the game knowing that the team that would come out on top could potentially be headed for the title.

In a rare set up, Zesco did not play with two defensive midfielders but despite taking the handbrake off they did not create many chances and it was Zanaco who looked more like scoring.

Rodrick Kabwe twice came close from set pieces but Jacob Banda was equal to the task.

The draw sees Zanaco move to 65 points from 28 games with Zesco moving to 50 points from 23 games.

The two teams will finish level on points if they win all their matches but Zanaco will be much hippier as they have only 6 games to navigate before the finish line unlike Zesco who still have 11 to play.

Elsewhere league too scorer Walter Bwalya scored a hat-trick when Nkana walloped Nakambala Leopards 6-3.

Simon Bwalya, Ronald Kampamba and Given Sinyangwe were also on target in the game.

The win sees Nkana move to 60 points to close in on Zanaco.
