Zanaco go top, Prison edge Kitwe United as Red Arrows dismantle Buffaloes

Zanaco has opened a one-point lead at the summit following a 3-1 win over while Prison Leopards returned to winning ways to move back into the top four.

The MTN/FAZ Super League entered week eighteen this afternoon with five mouth-watering encounters.

At Nkoloma Stadium a doubleheader took center stage, In the early kick-off, Nkwazi welcomed Lumwana Radiants. It was a disappointing showing from both sides as they could only settle for a goalless draw.

In the second match at the same venue, Red Arrows welcomed Green Buffaloes in a military derby.

The Airmen took off like a house on fire with 2012 AFCON winner James Chamanga putting them in the lead just after 12 minutes, Nine minutes later the 2012 AFCON winner doubled the hosts’ advantage with a beautiful goal, leaving a defender and goalkeeper for dead after being set up by Prosper Chiluya.

Arrows were awarded a penalty minutes later after a foul on Mwiza Siwale but the first assistant had her flag up for the off side. Kayembe Alidor however added a third from close range after some brilliant work from Prosper Chiluya.

In the second half, Green Buffaloes looked a better side with the introduction of Nerbert Musamba and Leonard Mulenga who combined well with Golden Mashata but Arrows held on to win 3-0 and move up to 9th place.

In Kabwe, Prison Leopards started life without Mwenya Chipepo who left the club in midweek to join, Indeni on a winning note beating Kitwe United 1-0. David Obash’s 33rd-minute strike was enough to decide the tie.

In Ndola, The Bankers, Zanaco put aside their poor away form as they beat Indeni 3-1 to open a one-point lead at the summit leapfrogging Zesco United who is not in action this weekend.

Roger Kola scored a brace while Abraham Siankombo continued with his brilliant form as he chipped in with a goal. Tranquilin Mwepu scored a consolation goal for Indeni.

In Choma, Green Eagles and Kabwe Warriors played out to a 2-2 draw.
