Zambia league champions Zanaco await the draws for the 2017 CAF Champions League and will be sure to get a pairing with perennial contenders Zamalek, Al Ahly, Etoile du Sahel or reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the group stage of the competition.
CAF is yet to announce the date of the draws but it is expected that they will wait for he conclusion of the pre-group stage games of the CAF Confederations Cup to complete the group stage draws for he two competitions at the same time.
Zanaco were placed in POT 4 when the seeding was done and are only sure of avoiding CAPS United, St. George and Ferroviaro Bera.
It is the first time in the history of the competition to have 16 teams in the group stages.
One team from each tier will be allocated in a group with the seedings determined by CAF’s 5-Year Ranking.
The group stage games kick off in May.
