Zambia U-20 men’s national football team has left for South Korea where they will participate in the “Four Nations Invitational Tournament” from 24th to 31st March.
The Africa U20 champions flew out of Lusaka aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 15h30.
2017 FIFA U20 World Cup hosts South Korea (U20 WC Group A) have invited qualified teams Zambia (Group C), Honduras (Group E) and Ecuador (Group F) to participate in the mini tournament which will serve as the precursor to the global youth competition.
Assistant coach Bilton Musonda told fazfootball.com that Zambia will use the four Nations tournament to warm up for the World Cup because all participants had also qualified.
“The Korea outing is very important; to us it is a blessing in disguise to go to Korea before the World Cup, the main event,” said Musonda.
“We are playing the teams who are also qualified to the World Cup so it is just like the World Cup before the World Cup.”
Zambia’ s travelling party is without Patson Daka (FC Liefering), Mumba Mwape (Getafe), Fashion Sakala (Spartak Moscow) and Lusaka Dynamos striker Conlyde Luchanga.
Their places on the squad have been taken by Stephen Chulu (Kabwe Warriors), Happy Nsofwa (Mufulira Police), Musonda Siame (Kafue Celtic) and Joseph Phiri (Red Arrows).
Chambeshi’s squad for the warm up tournament is as follows:

This is good for preparation for world cup in May/June.
I hope FAZ paid there overdue allowances. Otherwise you’ll see 9-0 score lines.
Patson Daka and Fashion Sakala are not being release for this mini tournament? That’s fine by me. I believe coach Silver has enough weapons for 4 nations tournament.
we are just going to embarrass ourselves mark my words coach is way in over his head.
Yes coach its blessing in disguise indeed all the best to you boys
this is were the useless chambishi will be tested because no home ground advantage. his tactics at the just ended afcon were not on point. he didnt make a single impact sub. he cant think outside the same predictable squad. wish the lads well and make us proud again.
SMH
This is the time to try out the fringe players in the team ( in the absence of those that wont be released ) you need players that may not have been part of the euphoria of winning the cup or those that were on the bench. It will be a very difficult job to motivate these players to play at the same standard or have the same hunger as they had during the tournament. Inchito iyo ya moneka ba Chambeshi !
Nigerian kid good to see, welcome to Zambia the under twenty afcon champions.
It’s a blessing indeed playing with the teams that has already qualified to the tournament. this will help the lads to the weather pertain of that country.
good luck.
All th best to our boys. No doubt, it will be good opportunity for the technical bench to assess team combinations and oppenents.
what’s the story with Conlyd Luchanga? Thought he played in Israel…. or was it just a failed trial?
Secondly, why has he been left out of the squad seeing that he never had enough game time @ just ended Afcon?
