Zambians want my son but not Bola House officials, says Charly Cool

In the last four days, the Copperbelt town of Mufulira has come into the spotlight again and this might be the trend even upto to the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo on March 23, 2016.

At the moment, there’s one thing common about this town.

Current Chipolopolo Boys skipper Rainford ‘Master’ Kalaba and recalled former captain Chris ‘Tsunami’ Katongo, both hail from the town the call Mafeking.

Part time Chipolopolo Boys coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina, who is also from Mufulira has found himself sandwiched into two issues.

First, he has too handle the armband issues very well because that might cause havoc in camp ahead of two important matches and secondly, his former Mufulira Wanderers’ school mate, Charles ‘Charlie Cool’ Musonda feels he is being used.

Though, Charlie Cool hasn’t mentioned names, it’s everyone’s guess whom he has been referring too.

Responding to questions on social media, the former Zambia midfielder has continued to defend his highly rated son, Charly Jnr, who has been in scintillating form in La Liga’s pending allegiance to Belgium, a country of his birth and not Zambia, his parents’ birth place.

“The Zambian people who love football wanted the player but not the people who run football, period,” Musonda Snr wrote

While many expected things to return to normal as the week starts, Musonda Snr has continued and defended his decision which has made his respond.

Musonda Snr says, he is compelled to respond because of his relationship with Lwandamina and doesn’t want to lose his friendship with the Zesco United coach.

“And am not blaming Lwandamina in this. I have brains and if it wasn’t him who appeared on that page surely I wasn’t going to say anything.

“But in this case I have to because I have great respect for the guy and we talk all the time whenever I visit Ndola. I can’t lose my friendship.

So, if ‘the poeople who run football’ in Zambia are not there at Football House, does it mean that the on loan Real Betis midfielder would be available for selection for Chipolopolo?

Thats one of the questions, Charly Cool will  have to respond to.

He called it outrageous for FAZ or is it Lwandamina for handing his son a call up before talking to him first.

“The nation can’t be fooled. How do you call someone you haven’t spoken to..this is outrageous.

  1. Zambians….well football educated zambians…lets all be realistic and of rational mind.
Charles Snr has all the rights to defend his sons decision as much as he is the one to instill patriotism in his children.

    1. As much as he is zambian (KK 11 for life), his adopted country did a lot for him even after his knee injury cut is career short.Belgium side anderlecht retained him and played a role in building up his sons football wise, so allegiance to belgium for charles jnr came naturally.

    2. Secondly…if i was charles jnr..i would ask my father why he is not in good books with FAZ…we all know that a father is the biggest hero a son has….whatever info Snr gives/tells his son…will always influence the sons decision.

    3. Charles jnr is Belgian…period!…so is Benteke and Dembele(congolese decent) the sooner we accept it the better.

    4. A mature coach will always go through a players family..in this case Charles Snr….the Ghananian FA went through Abedi to get though the Ayew brothers…look at what happened….

    5. Patriotism is is from within..its not forced upon…

    6. Do you think Lwandamina or FAZ tried to even ask BILTON MUSONDA for any family info on how to approach this issue/?…I DONT THINK SO

Think about these points….(it takes more than just a simple ill timed call up to make a player agree to coin a team….TIMING IS CARDINAL…Has Lawandamina ever travelled to England or now Spain o link up with the boy…and his FATHER….?..i dont think so…MAKE HIM A ZAMBIAN…THE WAY WILMOTS MAKES HIM FEEL BELGIAN BY VISITING HIM IN SPAIN!

    • @Kalampa, thank you for pumping some senses into a lot of ignorant Kalu cadres that patriotism the Musonda’s. This call up could well be a set up by jealous Kalu to destroy Charly jr’career. Kalu is evil, he has hated Musonda sr from back then all because Kalu wanted all eyes on him. Very self-centered individual.

  2. I am enjoying this Charles Musonda series greatly. Like an unfolding soap, I suspect that very soon the “people who run football” will respond and further infuriate the Musondas. Whatever happened in the 80s/90s between the two, it is clear that Musonda came off hurt the most. Once upon a time in the 80s these were the best of friends. What really happened? Was it about a woman?

    • What really happened was Kalu wanted to be screwing Angela Musonda, and she turned him off. Kalu always felt he was better that Charly, but Charly was more of a quarterback and he made Kalu look good on the field and of course the Belgians were able to tell who among the two was the engineer, that is why they shipped Kalu to Holland where he was playing behind Romario, meanwhile, Charly cool was highly regarded and was the beloved guy in Belgium. That didn’t sit well for arrogant, Jealous Kalu who in turn continued to fabricate false stories about Charly not wanting to play for Zambia. Kalu not having male children was like adding salt to the wound because his legacy was going to come to end once Kalu was done playing. This is why Kalu does not want the Musondas anywhere close to the squad as according to Kalu’s head, Zambia belongs to him and his second hand wife with high mileage.

      • The comment is unwarranted even if you dont like Kalu the truth is that Kalu brought more Glory to Zambia than Musonda who for me was a self centred individual. Kalu has his flaws bu tone thing you can not take away from him is he has always been patriotic that is more than i can say for little accomplished Chalie and his “in-famous” sons. Zambias dont need to worry about talent, we have that in abundance just look at the u20 players who have sprang up from no where

  3. Its possible to find common ground in this. We only have one Chipolopolo, and one Zambia. Its human to be wrong and differ, but it calls on all of us to still be brave enough and dig deep into our natural ubuntu and find forgiveness and love for the homeland called Zambia. IT CAN BE DONE!

  4. I don’t know why we continue to talk about this. Lets close this chapter and move on. The issue was not handled well, but there is no reason to start talking about the people at football house. You cant start using Charly Jnr as an avenue to try and threaten how football is ran.

Like Kampinda said earlier in another thread; its time to wake up and start to produce homegrown talent. We already tried this with Jeff Whitley and Robert Earnshaw who both had some Zambian heritage, but we moved on and we’ll continue being Chipolopolo regardless.

    • Like my song brother: we need to create academies! Even the brother Charles Musonda, they can throw us some brad crambs with a small academy pa sukulu ku Muf. I don’t mean to mess up your post brother…

  5. We read a lot of sturf on social media about who wronged who(kalusha/charly cool), please why can’t you put your differences aside and reconcile you guys (charly cool and kulusha) for the benefit of zambian football, you are all zambians….and let’s work towards lifting zambian football….we don’t know what really happened between you guys but just work out ur differences and improve zambian football.

  6. Not every talent will be homegrown no. some talent will be the charlie way n its upto us Zambians to claim something that ve some root connections. lets noy fail to handle a very small issue of our young bro n his family. First n foremost the musonda family ve something to offer. lets not just look at jnr alone but his brothers too. those chaps are zambian morw zambian than being belguim. If the minisyry n FAZ take interest the boys will be doning chipolopolo colours soon. lets bs the first. I appear to FA n Mr Mwale to push further so that we ve the boys home.

  7. Get rid of corrupt, jealousy Kalu and things will start to look brighter for Zambia, Kalu is so corrupt and jealousy such that even of Charly Jr decided he was going tp play for Zambia then Kalu with his corrupt fools at Caf would work hard to frustrate the boy. Kalu at Faz would lie to this kid into making him buy his own tickets for international engagements and then refuse to refund him saying kaili walikwata impiya from your club. Are they not benching Chisamba Lungu all because he has refused to bribe them? Now they are panicking and have decided to include him at last minute because of public outcry. Kalu is useless and a poison to Zambian football. We know the gymics, so let the boy play for any country that has invested so much in him and Zambia did not. Unpatriotic? Very funny people and very typical of Zambian people wanting to reap where you did not sow. Everyone has a dick, so please go make your own children if you so wish and then when you raise that child, you can have a say when people are trying to dictate your life, until then, please keep quiet.

    • I didn’t know you would sink so low in your hatred for an individual. I regarded you as someone with a football brain but alas i was mistaken – i guess every thing has two faces and we are onto the ugly side – what a shame.

      • I hate corrupt people and nothing wrong with that. I don’t need to have a higher football IQ to see through the failures of Kalu, jealous and his corruption practices. News flash you sir, speaking the truth about someone does not translates into hatred, but its a free world, take it whichever you like, I respect that. Peace!

  8. The fact is you are all legends in zambia (as soccer is concerned) please roconcile and work together, kalusha bwalya, charles musonda snr and lucky msiska, we all adore you coz u are our legends so please for the spirit on oness, reconciliation and improve zambian football

  9. CHARLES MUSONDA IS VERY UNPATRIOTIC TO HIS COUNTRY WHY INVOLVE HIS KIDS IN SETTLING OLD SCORES,WE ARE NEVER SHORT OF FOOTBALLERS.LOOK AT ABED PELE?HIS CHILDREN WERE BORN IN FRANCE AND CAN HARDLY SPEAK ANY GHANAIAN LANGUAGE BUT THERE THEY ARE PLAYING FOR GHANA.

    • Who told u abedi’s sons dont speak any ghanaian languae. That is a big lie. The Ayew brothers were made to visit Ghana often so they are very familiar with Ghanain culture. i advice u guys move on this issue we ghanaians have had alot of our player taken from us by europeans too eg. Jerome Boateng(Germany), Gerald Asamoah (Germany),Mario Ballotelli(italy),Memphid Depay( Holland),Ofosu Mensah(Holland),Marcel desailly (France) and a lot more. Our FA is at the moment fighting spain for atheletic bilboa wonder kid Inaki williams, so u see its part of football just move on. Imagin Ghana had all these players lol.

  10. Zambia is bigger than Musonda, a good player we must say but if he feels more Belgian than Zambian there’s nothing we can do

  11. Kalu is arrogant and pompous. He never humbles himself. This is a guy that would never give a call to Charlie cool, and say, look Charlie, we need to bury our long time differences and move forward whether your boys will play for Zambia or not. Kalu thinks he owns Zambia and the people back there allow him to do that. He is not held accountable for anything. What a waste of a human being we all looked up to and wanted to emulate. This guy is not leader. Leaders bring people together, leaders solve problems and bridge differences, but this fools is arrogant to even reduce himself to the benefit of Zambian football. Him and his wife have Zambian football in their palms. The time is now to get ride of him. I hope it happens this time around.

  12. One person cannot qualify zambia to the afcon/worldcup finals. The now most talked about Charly was not even part of the team in 2012 which brought glory to mother zambia. Our main focus and interest now should be on those players who have always been our country’s ambassadors in football..This issue is in some ways affecting and demoralising those players who always represent our lovely country..Kalaba and the rest of the team,we love you guys.

    • Hee,come man we don’t solve problems like that.if you don’t know Zambian football just keep quiet.we can’t qualify even to the 2017 afcon with the current coach. Looking at the status of our current midfielders are not mobile enough, we need people like charlie musonda jr who is able to add some flavour to mid fields. We have the government on board in handling this issue. Remember FAZ is holding elections this month on 19th, sweep off the corrupted Faz.

  13. One person cannot qualify zambia to afcon/worldcup..After all,Charly was not even part of the team that brought glory to mother zambia in 2012 afcon finals..Why wasting time talking about the boy who has never ever played for our country..

  14. I like that one and its very true, leaders are problem solvers and they try by all means to bring people together……but we need the musondas brothers to play for zambian(that’s if they want) because they are zambians and most european teams they have players who are from DRC, algeria etc….those carry zambian blood and its not true that its upto the boys to decide where to play, charly cool musonda is the father and is the key person in this matter not even the wife the only barrier is the problem between him and kalu……so Mr Charles ‘charly cool’ Musonda and Kalusha Bwalya let’s the elder oerson humble himself and work out ur difference, after all wen zambian benefits we all become happy but that requires you guys to work together….Bana Lamisha na bashi Lamisha zambia is your country don’t let your personal problem with Kalusha make zambia not to benefit from your seeds……just reconcile we don’t need the media to know that you are reconciling for the benefit of zambian football….Naimwe ba Kalusha, you are a leader and just take that step and reconcile with your buddy charly cool

  15. Charly jr is now a world class star. He is an asset worth millions. Paparrazi are already making dollars on the youngstar.

  16. This issue is not help charles o zambia, better we move on wth what we hv. Some of us watched cool playing, he was great bt that is history now we need move on.

  17. imwe can we please move on. charles is been petty. he wants to take us in circles. the hatred between kalu and charles if anyone doubted is clar for all to see. they dont say each others names!

  18. Charles wachikonko umuguys uYu
their differences with kalu happened like 30yrs ago
yes kalu might be jealous so is musonda. …He wants to be FA president let him come home and contest
maybe the issue is Charles balimupoka gelo…I think it’s Maureen nkandu

  19. I think this hatred is too much, Kalu should just give one of his daughter to one of charly’s son so that they can become friends again and even produce great footballers kaili bonse balefuma kuma parents ba bola

  20. This problem of rivalries between players didn’t happen not only between Kalu and Charlie Cool but also with Abed Pelle and Anthony Yeboah, C. Katongo and late Chaswe Nsofwa and many more.
The big problem with us Zambians or may be Africans is we worship idols. If someone has money, educated, or is working abroad we give them undue respect. Why are people around Kalu are not advising him. Even people in football like Fred Mwila sr. know this problem but they can not say because the culprit is definitely the boss. That is why if you follow what C.Musonda said he is not blaming Lwandamina or Zambians at large but people at football house especially Kalu.Vincent Mwale was supposed to oblige Kalu to apologise or talk to Bilton before going to meet C.Musonda. So lets not insult Musonda and the family but we as Zambians we responsible for this. Moreover you gave a diplomatic passport to person who was at that receiving a salary forgetting someone was injured and with no salary but was equally great. So many years passed without even thanking him or wishing good and you come after his blood in unprofessional way, NO ! Be humane lets call a spade a spade.

  21. Musonda as well is being petty why going to the media as if kalu went to the media…and for that matter social media where news source is very unreliable
am not saying kalu is a saint but Musonda is using his son to punish one man instead of just being bold and tell kalu off
    Musonda nimbuli fye
pls educate me if kalu has gone to the media About his differences with Musonda
when Musonda was called to play for national team kalu then was not even near faz yes he was the captain but pls tell has katongo or kalaba prevented anyone from the team even though we know there has been differences in the current team? The answer is no
    musonda is unpatriotic period
when he was supposed to come he faked his injury and the government had to come in where he came and played as though he was being falsed off corse he didn’t want to play
is kalu a saint no is musonda unpatriotic yes PF would not want this guy near the party that’s why Vincent mwale failed to speak sense into him
do want his to play for zed no doubt the boy is massive talent but if he chooses Belgium it’s all good chipolopolo is bigger than kalu and musonda
    zed chalo Cesu

  22. am having a question mwabantu pliz,is the player charly musonda accepted the call from lwandamina or wht,wht z really the problem btwn kalu ad musonda snr,let us b realistic coz tak the best example abedi pele, his children ar really doin great fo their country.

    • Charles Musonda wants to hear the invitation come from the horse’s mouth ( Kalu ), so let’s just hope our FA president will do like wise and renew his friendship with Charly Cool.
      Cross your fingers gents!

  23. Mmmmmmmm…. 80s/90s diferences still exist in 2016 the bible says do not let yo anger last from morning to evening.and us zambians we love you guys. 1corinthians13:1, 1peter4:8

  24. Musonda’s performances have also reportedly grabbed the attention of Belgium coach Marc Wilmots, who, according to Belgian media, is scouting the midfielder ahead of a potential call-up for Euro 2016.

One nation who Musonda won’t be representing is Zambia after he rejected their approach earlier this month. His father, who was also a professional footballer, was born in Zambia and capped 48 times by them.

  25. Lets face it, that boy is Belgian. Like Ponga says, do you think he will want to come here and train in a car park a few hours before a critical world cup qualifier, or wait at the airport for hour before the plane finally takes off hours late and arrive in opposition territory with only a few hours for acclamatization before a critical game, or play with students as partners in a game against Ghana.

  26. All these soccer greats come from Luapula , I suggest we set up a a modern academy or soccer schools in the province abundant of football talent . Mufurila connected well with Luapula province and thus most of them settled in Mafuken . For your information Charles and Kalu comes from the same village with their parents well known to each other . Football is well passed on from generation to another through the genes .Don’t expect people who have not had a footballing family background to produce good players . Just like Congo Dr produce good players ,Luapula province and to some extent northern produces the same quality players because they come from the origin .

  27. Charles Musonda just loves attention many were times he would get call ups to the national team then he would refuse to come, whilst his loyal friend Kalu would use his personal money to buy a ticket and play for his nation. Now Do you think Charles can allow his sons? Its the job of a coach to ask a player to come and play not his father. If really those boys can offer themselves just like all the patriot Zambians do by declaring that “am ready to play for my country if given an opportunity” and they are in there finest performance then they are snubbed by the coach yes we will blame the FA but until then leave this man and his kids for Chipolopolo is bigger than a single player

  28. Zambians are dull people. You really want to think his son wont play for Zambia because of Kalu? What if Kalu is not boss anymore, does it mean Charlie will change his mind. What a lame excuse. I have no problems with the Musonda’s deciding what they think is good for them. Its unfair to call them unpatriotic.

Having said that Kalu has shown more commitment to Zambia as a player, coach and administrator, he could have chosen to live anywhere in the world. Just as much that he is not perfect, show me which FAZ has done better than Kalu.

  29. This Musonda case should not be compared with the case of Andre and Jordan Ayew. Those boys were French born but we all watched them play their father’s team FC Narnia. They wore over sized jerseys and play on dusty pitches. They have massive local orientation, they played junior national teams and have no difficulty because they understand everything Ghanaian. The ones who fit for this one are Schlupp of Licester City and Kwasi Appiah of Crystal Palace. Two of which has merged well with local behaviour in camp

  30. Dont distub this boy carrier he is a zambian adopteted by beljum no father ii hate a child bz he is brot up by onother parent this family is just apriciating beljum bz they stood by him wen he had problems. Indeed zambia is above any idividual i ve watched this boy but he needs to wake hard to be apriciated by chipolopolo i think the current team is better than this player i dont think he ii much his father
