The Zambia U18 Women’s National Team will take on Tanzania in the third-place playoff at the 2025 UEFA Friendship Cup in Turkey on Wednesday, 9 April 2025.
Kick-off will be at 13h00 CAT.
The young Copper Queens put up an impressive run in the group stage, winning two matches and drawing one to finish second in Group A on seven points, level with Colombia but edged out on penalty shootout results.
Zambia began the tournament with a narrow draw-loss to Colombia (1-1 in regulation time, 4-5 on penalties), followed by a commanding 3-0 win over hosts Turkey.
Florence Mwila’s side rounded off the pool stage with a 3-1 victory over Thailand. Despite finishing tied with Colombia on points and goal difference, the penalty loss to the South Americans denied them a spot in the final.
Meanwhile, Group B was topped by Finland with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, setting up a final showdown with Colombia, who finished top of Group A.
Tanzania, who placed second in Group B with two wins and one loss, will be Zambia’s opponents in what promises to be an exciting third-place battle between Africa’s only representatives at the tournament.
In the other placement matches, hosts Turkey will battle Lebanon for fifth place, while the fight for seventh will see Thailand take on Jamaica.

Wish we had a chance to play Finland but the mungulu of the coaching stuff who negligently forgot to plan & prepare for penalties cost the girls victory in game 1.
